The WSH Officer
The WSH Officer leads and oversees all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) activities for the company and its projects. The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, develops and implements safety programs, and recommends continual improvement of EHS performance.
- Lead and manage the EHS team, appraising performance and ensuring duties are completed on schedule.
- Provide technical expertise and strong mentorship to team members, fostering employee development.
- Develop and implement EHS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and programs, recommending improvements based on risk findings.
- Conduct hazard analyses for new projects, equipment, or processes.
- Hold training, education and briefing sessions, including Safety Toolbox meetings.
- Stay updated on safety regulations to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines and contractual scopes.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare and lodge Workplace Incident Reports to MOM, and implement corrective actions; represent the company at safety events.
- Perform regular safety inspections of the workplace, tools, equipment, and workspaces.
- Promote a safety culture to enhance employee awareness and work safety.
- Serve as Management Representative for OHSAS programs.
- Monitor and maintain safety procedures and records, including inspection reports, accident logs, and employee training certifications.
- Ensure all safety documentation is up‑to‑date and readily accessible for audits or inspections.
- Inspect site personnel’s personal protective equipment (PPE) for validity and functionality.
- Liaise with client/main contractor/subcontractor on all site safety matters.
- Assist the Project Manager with all aspects of project safety and attend site meetings.
- Report safety data and reports to management.
- Perform other ad‑hoc duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of relevant hands‑on experience in the engineering/construction industry, preferably with a main contractor, M&E or similar service company, and at least 5 years in a managerial capacity.
- Valid Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Officer license in Singapore issued by the Singapore Institution of Safety Officers.
- Valid BizSafe Level 2 certification.
- Valid BCSS or Supervise Construction Work for WSH certificate, CSCPM, or equivalent safety certificate.
- Valid Work at Height Assessor certificate.
- Excellent knowledge of statutory requirements related to the WSH Act, OHSAS, and other safety aspects.
- Knowledge of ACMV, ducting, process piping, and other M&E‑related systems is a plus.
- Good communication, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in English communication and report writing.
- Strong business judgment, analytical and problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- High reliability and integrity in handling confidential information.
- Ability to plan, organize, take initiative to meet objectives and tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Resourceful, attentive to detail, responsible, responsive with a positive attitude.
- Ability to conduct site checks regularly on a daily basis.
