Job Summary:

The Welding Manager oversees all welding operations within the manufacturing or construction environment, ensuring high-quality welds, compliance with safety standards, and efficient production processes. This role involves supervising welding teams, optimizing welding procedures, and maintaining equipment to meet project specifications and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Welding Operations Management:
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise welding activities to meet production schedules and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement welding procedures (WPS/PQR) in compliance with AWS, ASME, API, or other relevant codes.
  • Ensure proper selection of welding methods (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Cored, etc.) based on material and project requirements.
2. Quality Control & Compliance:
  • Monitor weld quality through inspections (VT, UT, RT, MT, PT) and ensure adherence to industry standards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for weld defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain documentation (welding logs, inspection reports, certifications).
3. Team Leadership & Training:
  • Supervise welders, inspectors, and technicians, providing guidance and performance feedback.
  • Organize training programs to certify welders and improve skills.
  • Enforce safety protocols (OSHA, PPE, hazardous material handling).
4. Equipment & Resource Management:
  • Oversee maintenance and calibration of welding machines, torches, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Manage inventory of welding consumables (rods, gas, wire) and tools.
  • Evaluate new welding technologies for process improvement.
5. Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and company safety policies.
  • Conduct safety audits and promote a zero-incident culture.
  • Investigate welding-related accidents and implement preventive measures.
6. Project Coordination:
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to review blueprints and welding specifications.
  • Estimate labor, materials, and time requirements for welding projects.
