Job Summary

Performs various tasks in connection with the receipt, storing, and issuing of stock and merchandise in one or more areas of a Warehouse/Distribution Center or main Exchange.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Receives and unloads incoming merchandise, supplies and/or equipment from vendors or manufacturers. Opens, inspects, counts, marks and tags items. Receives invoice from vendor on merchandise ordered; checks against RGR to ensure items and quantity ordered are received; checks costs and retail price; reports discrepancies/damages to supervisor. May sign for items received.
  • Stocks merchandise according to size and assortment. Prepares storage locations for new merchandise, places items in bins and arranges on shelves. Advises supervisor of slow moving, damaged or obsolete merchandise. May be required to perform data entry functions in maintenance of locator systems.
  • Maintains Unit Recorder Records as instructed by supervisor. Performs physical inventory of merchandise on the floor and in the storeroom to determine merchandise to reorder to maintain maximum stock level.
  • Warehouses palletized or bulk stock according to specified locations, restacking warehousing items and straightening stacks as directed; sorts out bad containers and restacks or takes to bin areas. Periodically checks tags or bins for mixed stock to incorrrect locations; corrects or notifies supervisor of problems. May be assigned a specific area for the performance of this function.
  • Receives merchandise transfers. Selects for shipment or transfers designated stock by locating stock and verifying information shown on shipping or transferring document against information on stock tags or bin tags. Moves items to designated location by handcart, conveyor or similar type of conveyance. May prepare Transfer Delivery Receipt and issue to driver with merchandise to requester.
  • Performs quality assurance checks to verify the integrity of picked orders. May be required to re-pull all or portions of orders found to be incorrect. May perform data entry to allow in house tracking of merchandise movement.
  • Receives Chargbacks for merchandise returns. Pulls merchandise, removes price tags and stocks for pick-up and delivery to vendor. Obtains signature for merchandise upon delivery.
  • May be required to post retail price changes and notify concerned locations of such changes.
  • May operate a forklift in the performance of assigned functions. Maintains working area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Performs periodic inventories as required. Assists supervisor in inventory preparation.
  • May be required to assist in the construction or reconfiguration of storage racks, bins, and shelving. May also assist in performing minor maintenance projects.
  • Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. Carries out assigned duties in accordance with established procedures. Work is reviewed in terms of efficiency of operations and adherence to procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Effort

Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions; may lift and carry supplies and material up to 100 pounds, with assistance.

Working Conditions

Work is performed inside warehouses in bin rooms, in open areas and in receiving or shipping areas. The area may by cold, drafty, damp or hot.

Training Requirement

Associate must receive Hazardous Material (HazMat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.
