Job summary

Airwallex is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to own the end-to-end strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Payments Platform. You will lead a global engineering organisation, guiding managers and senior engineers to deliver reliable, scalable payment systems.

You will work closely with Product, Commercial, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure platform capabilities support Airwallex's growth while meeting regulatory requirements, with a focus on ownership and fast delivery across

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in engineering leadership.
• Experience managing Engineering Managers or Leads with a track record of scaling high-performing teams.
• Strong product thinking and ability to partner with Product Management to define roadmaps and drive business outcomes.
• Deep technical fluency in software architecture and system design for large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience in fintech, financial services, payments, or other regulated industries where correctness and data integrity are critical.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end strategy, architecture, and roadmap for Airwallex's Payments Platform across global markets.
• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering organisation by developing Engineering Managers and senior techn人才 across multiple squads.
• Provide architectural direction for high-volume, mission-critical payment systems with high reliability and security standards.
• Drive execution across multiple initiatives, balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform investments and health.
• Partner with Product, Commercial, Risk, Compliance, and regional leaders to align platform capabilities with growth and regulatory requirements.
