We are seeking a VP level of investment professional to join our dynamic team and play a critical role in identifying, evaluating, and executing investment opportunities. Due to our core market presence, this role demands frequent, necessary travel between our Singapore headquarters and Jakarta, Indonesia, for deal sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio management meetings.
Main Responsibilities
The VP of Investment manages the entire transaction lifecycle and provides strategic leadership both internally and externally. Investment Cycle Leadership:
- Deal Origination: Define and direct the firm’s sourcing strategy. Leverage a broad, senior‑level network to originate proprietary investment opportunities that strategically align with our core thesis.
- Due Diligence & Analysis: Oversee and guide the team’s comprehensive due diligence process, ensuring rigor in financial modeling, valuation, market sizing, and the critical assessment of founding teams.
- Execution & Structuring: Provide senior leadership on transaction execution. Lead negotiation of investment terms and collaborate with legal counsel to structure complex agreements.
- Investment Advocacy: Lead the presentation of investment recommendations to the Investment Committee, ensuring strategic alignment, and articulating a clear path to value creation and exit.
Portfolio & Strategic Management
- Value Creation: Act as a strategic partner to portfolio company management, offering direct guidance on operational challenges, growth initiatives, and strategic scaling.
- Board Participation: Represent Alpha JWC on portfolio company boards, providing effective governance, mentorship, and support to maximize shareholder returns.
- Team Development: Provide leadership and mentorship to junior investment team members (VPs, Associates), ensuring adherence to best practices in research, analysis, and portfolio monitoring.
- Exit Strategy Planning & Collaboration: Proactively define liquidity pathways (IPO, strategic M&A, secondary sale). Collaborate to drive the execution and strategic alignment among founders, LPs, and management teams throughout the exit cycle to maximize realization value.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate possesses a proven, high‑integrity career trajectory suitable for leading investments at a top‑tier regional fund.
- Experience: A minimum of 7‑8 years of progressive experience in Venture Capital, Private Equity, Growth Equity, or Investment Banking (M&A/Corporate Finance).
- Regional Expertise: Non‑negotiable deep operational understanding and an established professional network within the Southeast Asian technology ecosystem, in particular in Indonesian and Singapore markets.
- Financial Acumen: Expert‑level proficiency in advanced financial analysis, valuation methodologies, and investment structuring, with direct experience in preparing companies for exit.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Corporate Finance, Economics, or a technical discipline is required. An advanced degree (MBA, CFA) is highly valued.
- Behavioral Skills: Must demonstrate high integrity, strong work ethic, exceptional negotiation skills, and a strategic, long‑term mindset suitable for partnership‑focused investment.
