Job summary

A leading financial institution in Singapore is seeking an experienced professional in credit risk management. The candidate will assess frameworks for risk management in consumer finance and collaborate with subsidiaries in South-East Asia. A Bachelor’s degree and over 10 years in banking are required. Proficiency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia/Malay is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, monitor and ensure robust framework for risk management and controls in the business and operations of overseas subsidiaries.
  • Mainly responsible for Credit Risk Management for the Consumer Finance businesses in both bank and multi-finance companies in South‑East Asian countries especially Indonesia.
  • Actively collaborate with subsidiaries to enhance local credit risk management practices, frameworks, and initiatives for consumer finance businesses, while ensuring alignment with regional and global best practices. Provide expert guidance and hands‑on support to drive innovations.
  • Partner with both 1st and 2nd lines of defence as well as global and local credit risk management counterparts, to facilitate comprehensive risk reviews and deliver actionable insights that promote sustainable and disciplined business growth strategies or remediate credit portfolio issues.
  • Perform risk assessment for new consumer finance related products and services.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Credit risks related internal control measures and processes.
  • Promote effectiveness of internal controls by implementing continuous improvement measures in banking functions.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy in reporting and providing periodic risk‑focused updates to senior management on credit risk management and control related matters.
  • Monitor achievement of key performance indicators and promote effectiveness in risk and control environments.
  • Manage strategic projects such as participating in due diligence processes, project management and post‑merger integration.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree qualifications with minimum 10 years working experience in the Banking and Finance sector with experience in dealing with issues related to credit risk management and internal control.
  • Possess sound knowledge in Credit risk management and control, especially for the Consumer Finance segment will be highly desirable.
  • Experience in tasks related to Consumer Finance credit risk management including risk assessment, analysis, reporting, and control process improvement, supported by strong understanding of Consumer Finance business and operations.
  • Subsidiary management experience in terms of risk management and control implementation required.
  • Deep understanding of consumer finance products especially in credit risk in South‑East Asian countries especially Indonesia.
  • Experience in early issue identification and analysis, and implementation of solutions ranging from risk control mechanisms and frameworks including evaluation of corrective actions will be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills supported by good problem solving and logical reasoning capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management with the ability to process multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Proactive with adaptability to change, and ability to implement innovative and value‑adding solutions with a strong drive for continuous improvement in strengthening quality of controls.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities (verbal and written) including excellent presentation skills, effective cross‑cultural communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in English is required. Ability to communicate in Bahasa Indonesia/Malay would be an added advantage as the role requires frequent communication with Indonesia entity.
