Job summary

Morgan Stanley in Singapore seeks an Associate/VP to join the Bulks & Metals Trading desk in a fast-paced Fixed Income environment. You will facilitate market-making, price and execute trades, and monitor market dynamics to shape trading views.

The role requires 5–8 years in metals products, direct trading or risk management experience, and strong quantitative and communication skills. Collaboration with Sales and regional teams is essential to deliver client solutions.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of relevant experience across metals products, including bulks and metals.
• Direct front-office trading or risk-management experience.
• Exposure to commodity derivatives (futures, options, swaps, forwards) or a mix of derivatives and physical trading.
• Quantitative understanding of commodity markets and pricing drivers.
• Ability to articulate factors behind numerical outputs.
• Data management skills; analytical and detail-oriented.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Desirable: coding with Python; exposure to AI tools in trading workflows.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate market-making and client flows in bulks and base metals while managing risk and maximizing profit.
• Price and execute trades across derivative products, taking responsibility for risk and position management.
• Read market information and price behavior to analyze situations and form trading views.
• Collaborate with Sales and regional teams to formulate trade ideas and deliver client solutions.
• Manage trading desk administration, including trade bookings and amendments.
• Identify aging fails and escalate to Management.
• Monitor physical market fundamentals and their impact on the book.
