Business Function

Group Finance aims to deliver world-class standards in reporting, financial planning and finance processes. We provide insights and analyses that help the Bank make sound business decisions – whether in the areas of product development or customer profitability. We also provide capital management, business planning, forecasting, tax and accounting advisory services.

The Bank is also a certified Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) for the Singapore Qualification Programme by the Singapore Accountancy Commission and an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Approved Employer.

Responsibilities

This role presents an opportunity to join the Group Tax team and develop a holistic banking tax career across various tax domains. You will be responsible for corporate tax compliance and reporting matters and will support senior tax specialists to navigate increasingly complex global tax regulations amidst new product innovations and evolving business operations. As part of a high-functioning, strategic Finance function, you will have the opportunity to develop financial services expertise and learn directly from senior banking tax and finance specialists.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Manage Singapore Corporate Income Tax (CIT) compliance matters, including tax provisions and tax controversy resolution.
  • Manage data for preparation of internal/external tax reports, perform analytics, translate key insights for decision making or recommendations in connection to the bank’s tax matters.
  • Assess and mitigate tax risks associated with business activities and transactions, implementing controls and processes to safeguard against potential tax exposures.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant Singapore tax laws and regulations as well as operationalising strong tax compliance and controls as set out under Group Tax Policies and Standards.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the Singapore CIT compliance and related processes. This would include the analysis of effective tax rates (ETRs), the preparation of monthly tax provisions, CIT returns, withholding tax returns and other tax reporting/process.
  • Prepare and deliver tax analysis to Business and Support units across the Bank and on various business transactions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure governance and operational efficiency, including system enhancements and process improvements.
  • Support engagement with tax authorities, when required, to steer tax outcome that is aligned with the underlying economics especially for innovative products.
  • Deliver on other ad-hoc tax-related projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or tax-related equivalent.
  • Professional Qualification such as SCTP, ISCA, ACA/ACCA, etc. (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Prior experience in handling tax system implementation will be an advantage.
  • At least 6 - 8 years of relevant experience in tax and finance/ treasury work in the financial services industry. Big 4 tax, advisory or analytics experience may also be considered.
  • Highly motivated, adaptable and a fast learner with a strong eagerness to deepen knowledge of taxation, banking operations, finance and other related bank processes.
  • Proficient in handling and organising financial data with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Familiarity in analytics software and/or AI tools is an advantage.
  • Strong research, analytical and lateral-thinking skills to evaluate tax impact for business and other related implications.
  • Strong and confident communicator with effective style adaptation both verbally and written to support and manage the communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Positive solution-oriented mindset with a willingness to embrace new challenges with an open and proactive attitude.
