About The Role

You will play an important role in ensuring that the utility system and plant is in top condition to safely make quality products that meet and exceed the expectations of our customers. Utility technicians are responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing a variety of utility systems. Perform continuous improvement in process, procedure, O&M methodology, system performance, reliability, and cost.

Your responsibilities

Utility technician shall provide operation and maintenance of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, Process/Wastewater Treatment and Gas/Chemical systems.

  • Perform operation and maintenance of various mechanical and electrical systems & services (Compressed dry air, chillers, Water process cold system, Water ingredient cold system, Wastewater Treatment plant, Uninterruptible Power Supply system, Heating, Ventilation & Air-conditioning system, Air Handling Unit, Exhaust, vacuum, cooling tower, etc).
  • Perform ad-hoc corrective maintenance on utility systems as well as facilities.
  • Operate Building Management System (BMS).
  • Must be able to carry out first‑line troubleshooting in the event of equipment breakdown or downstream service disturbance.
  • Must ensure operations routine tasks are carried out as per schedule.
  • Issue and close safe work permit and ensure work activities are carried out safely.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors/vendors in performing their duties in accordance with SOP.
  • Responsible for performing PMs and work orders as well as project work.
  • Ensure proper hand‑over and take‑over during shift change.
  • Participate in the development of a Predictive Maintenance program at Tuas.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in accordance with all safety and GMP policies.
  • Be able to use independent judgment and work well within a team concept.
  • Interact with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
  • Follow all cGMP requirements to ensure proper manufacturing environment.
  • Actively participate in the resolution of downtime issues.
  • Complete all necessary transactions, reports and documentation with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Duties will vary according to the degree of difficulties and involvement of the specific targets set in the department.
  • Energy and water consumption monitoring and recording to ensure the performance of equipment and report immediately for any abnormalities.
The experience we're looking for
  • Diploma certificate in related field of study. Boiler License is required.
  • Good technical knowledge in Compressed dry air, chillers, Cooling towers, Air Handling Units, Heating, Ventilation & Air-conditioning systems, Wastewater Treatment plant, Building Management system, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system and Fire Protection systems.
  • Experience in cGMP, ISO 9001/ ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 45001:2018.
  • At least 3-5 years industrial maintenance experience.
  • Previous experience in a food or pharma manufacturing environment is desirable.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance technologies.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Close attention to detail and experience with detailed documentation of task performed.
  • Fast learner with ability to work with minimal direction, in a team‑based environment.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills.
