The Singapore Food Agency seeks a leader for the Agriculture Technology Department to drive strategic research translating science into practical farming solutions across urban agriculture in Singapore. Regular farm visits, on-site trials, and capacity building will be part of the role.

You will translate findings into guidelines and support regulatory decision-making, collaborate with farming communities, and represent Singapore on international platforms.

Formación

• Ph.D. or Master’s in Plant Sciences or related field; or a Bachelor’s with 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience in crop production or agricultural extension.
• Strong technical background in plant–environment interactions and physiological stress responses, with experience working directly with farmers in vegetable production systems.
• Experience in crop management practices including nutrient and irrigation management and environmental control in tropical conditions.
• Experience in designing and conducting controlled environment and field experiments with sound experimental design and data collection.
• Experience applying statistical frameworks and data modelling using R, Python, SPSS, or SAS; proficiency in MS Office and data visualization.

Responsabilidades

• Design, manage, and implement laboratory, controlled-environment and field trials focusing on crop growth and yield.
• Quantify plant performance using physiological, morphological, and yield-based indicators with environmental data and robust analysis.
• Conduct farm visits to diagnose crop performance issues and provide practical recommendations.
• Translate research findings into technical guidelines, advisory materials, and policy-relevant recommendations.
• Share findings with farming communities through workshops, guides, demonstrations and consultations.
• Monitor adoption and impact of practices, collect feedback, and build relationships with local farms.
• Foster partnerships with IHLs, research bodies, and industry stakeholders to drive translational research.
• Represent Singapore on international platforms and technical groups on urban agriculture and tropical crops.
