Job summary

A leading HR services company in Singapore is seeking Trainee Chemical Technicians and Trainee Operations Technicians for positions at Jurong Island. Ideal candidates have a diploma in chemical engineering or related fields, are able to work in a terminal industry and on 12-hour rotating shifts. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance to safety standards, performing quality checks, and assisting in plant operations. Training will be provided.

Job description

TRAINEE CHEMICAL TECHNICIAN X 6 - CHEMICAL PLANT @ JURONG ISLAND

• Ensure compliance to statutory and corporate requirements related to safety and HSE issues.
• Ensure that plant is at optimum operating conditions at all times.
• Do periodic checking by plant patrol, in order to maintain high plant reliability so that production targets are achieved with minimum production downtime.
• Handle sampling and in-process QC analysis.
• Preparation of master batch sub‑raw materials as per production requirements.
• Assist Shift Superintendent in taking prompt and appropriate measures, where necessary, during plant emergencies.
• Perform simple maintenance on plant equipment, if necessary.
• Provide support to other sections where necessary, e.g. Technical, Distribution, Sales, in daily plant operations or commissioning of new product grades.
• Perform Emergency Response Team work during emergencies.
• Take care of housekeeping of the plant.

• NITEC or Diploma in Chemical Engineering/ Chemical Process Technology / Engineering related.
• Must be able to work on 12‑hour rotating shifts.
• Working hours: 8am to 8pm & 8pm to 8am.

TRAINEE OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN X 6 - OIL & GAS & CHEMICAL STORAGE @ JURONG ISLAND

• Carry out Operations day to day activities safely in accordance with standard operating procedure.
• Practice all established rules and work procedures and keep abreast of the rules and procedures which may be implemented from time to time.
• Decommissioning, tagging and preparing of process equipment before handing over to technical personnel for repair and / or maintenance.
• Attend loading arms / hoses connection and ship / shore access ladder.
• Ensure that all incident cases are managed and acted upon immediately.
• Ensure that all incidents are reported to next level manager/management in a timely manner.
• Follow basic mandatory work instructions (including use of personal protection equipment) to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of oneself and others.
• Practice safety at work.
• Ensure all operational activities at the terminal are carried out in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
• Deliver on customers' expectations and requirements in a timely manner.
• Address enquiries from Internal customers on the services and managing the expectation.

• Min Diploma holder.
• Training will be provided.
• Able to work in terminal industry and outdoor environment.
• Able to work on 12 hours rotating shifts.
