Job Overview
We are seeking a Trade Finance Specialist with hands‑on experience in oil or liquid cargo transactions to support our trading operations. This role is not high‑volume (less than 5 shipments per month) but emphasizes accuracy, compliance, banking relationships, financing optimization, and documentation excellence. You will play a key role in managing trade finance processes, strengthening relationships with banks, and ensuring smooth financial and shipment coordination.
Key Responsibilities
1. Trade Finance & Banking Support
- Review, verify, and manage day‑to‑day trade finance operations for import/export transactions.
- Establish and maintain strong banking relationships to support financing requirements.
- Assist in optimizing B2B credit lines, banking facilities, and LC limits.
- Handle Letters of Credit (LC) issuance, amendments, negotiation, discounting, trust receipt financing, and document presentations to banks in compliance with UCP 600.
- Manage bank account opening, documentation, and maintenance.
- Coordinate telegraphic transfers (TT)
2. Documentation & Compliance (Low Volume, High Accuracy)
- Prepare and verify accurate trade and shipping documents including commercial invoices, Bills of Lading (B/L), COO, COQ, sales/purchase contracts, etc.
- Ensure full compliance with INCOTERMS, LC terms, UCP 600, ISBP guidelines, and company policies.
- Maintain organized and audit‑ready trade finance records.
- Escalate any discrepancies or exceptions in documentation or trade transactions to Management promptly.
3. Logistics & Shipment Coordination
- Coordinate up to 3–5 shipments per month with suppliers, buyers, vessel operators, freight forwarders, and terminals.
- Track shipment schedules, ensure timely submission of shipping documents for bank negotiation and customs clearance.
- Resolve minor discrepancies in documentation, shipment details, or bank requirements efficiently.
- Monitor cargo movement, discharge arrangements, and timely document release.
4. Receivables, Payments & Financial Reporting
- Monitor accounts receivable and payment collection to ensure timely cash inflow.
- Manage inward/outward remittances, invoice discounting, LOI redemption, and settlement of trade transactions.
- Assist in cash flow forecasting (short‑term and long‑term), funding requirements, and credit line utilization.
- Support month‑end closing activities and trade finance reporting.
- Reconcile and monitor bank credit lines and financial records.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–6 years of experience in trade finance or trade operations, preferably in Oil & Gas or commodities trading.
- Experience in handling oil or liquid cargo documentation is essential.
- Strong understanding of LCs, UCP 600, INCOTERMS, B/L documents, treasury transactions, and international trade settlements.
- Experience in an SME/small trading environment is an advantage.
- Diploma or equivalent working experience — Degree not required.
- Detail‑oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills for dealing with banks, suppliers, shipping agents, and internal stakeholders.
