Job description

Tooling Manager / Tooling Director (Both roles based in China)

Salary range: $6k - $15k (Based on role & experience)

Core Responsibilities

• Oversee precision machining of mold parts (wire-cut, grinding, heat treatment, CNC, lathe, etc.)
• Lead new mold assembly & debugging, ensuring fit, accuracy, durability and stability.
• Manage mold maintenance, repairs, and life‑cycle evaluation.
• Drive improvement for mass‑production molds.
• Manage a large team (50+ pax) — deployment, training, safety, process discipline.
• Cross‑department coordination for production, purchasing, and new project needs.
• Improve tooling processes and adopt new technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from strong engineering university (preferably 985/211 in China).
• Deep expertise in stamping tool manufacturing, especially high‑precision molds.
• Hands‑on with high‑end CNC and machining equipment (Mazak, AGIE CHARMILLES, etc.).
• Able to analyze mold problems from first principles.
• Precision tolerance experience: ±0.005mm, surface finishing Ra0.18.
• Experience managing a large workshop/team.
• SAP & Excel proficiency.

Tooling Director — Key Focus Areas

Core Responsibilities

• Lead the entire tooling/engineering function (strategy, budgets, planning).
• Oversee NPI feasibility, quotations, process route planning.
• Guide end‑to‑end new product development (design → machining → secondary ops → assembly → validation → mass production).
• Technical authority for complex mold design, stamping processes, and hardware manufacturing.
• Manage large‑scale R&D/engineering team (50+ pax).
• Drive automation projects, SMED improvements, and standardization of mold management.
• Ensure safety, quality, cost control, and continuous improvement.
• Technology scouting & innovation with domestic/international trends.
• Strong project management, cross‑departmental coordination, and lifecycle management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and above (preferably 985/211); overseas experience is a plus.
• Mastery in mold manufacturing, stamping, metals, mechanical automation.
• Proficient in AutoForm, SolidWorks, 3D design.
• Deep experience with:
  • High‑speed/servo stamping
  • Precision molds (±0.005mm, Ra 0.18)
  • CNC, grinding, automation equipment
  • SMED & mold lifecycle mgmt (1000+ molds)
• At least 10 years R&D/Tooling engineering leadership, 5+ years senior management.
• Able to lead large R&D teams and drive major improvements.
