Job summary

The Chinese Programme in the School of Humanities at Nanyang Technological University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Global China, broadly conceived. We seek humanities scholars whose research on modern or contemporary China situates Chinese societies, cultures, and Chinese-language worlds within global contexts.

Qualifications

• A PhD in or in a related field.
• Strong scholarly promise with a developing publication profile.
• Commitment to high-quality teaching and student mentorship at undergraduate and (desirable) postgraduate level
• Interest in collaborative, interdisciplinary, and internationally-engaged research
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships and networks with colleagues and external stakeholders across the university and externally
• Ability to make a significant contribution to administrative work.
• Demonstrated commitment to contribute to school, college and university-level initiatives in accordance with strategy at all levels of the organisation.
• For associate and full Professor roles, a research profile, teaching and supervision track record and leadership/service experience appropriate to the role.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision.
• Teach in Chinese in addition to English.
• Engage in interdisciplinary, international research collaborations.
• Participate in the Global Asian Research Centre initiatives.
• Contribute to administrative work.
