Tenure Track Faculty Position in Social Work

The Department of Social Work in the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor.

NUS is a leading university in Asia, ranked 8th globally and 1st in Asia in the QS World University Rankings 2025. The Social Work Department, one of the oldest departments in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, offers ample opportunities for cutting‑edge curriculum and research initiatives on contemporary social work and social development. Graduates become leaders in social services and social policy.

We seek beginning or early‑career faculty members who are emerging experts in one or more of the following areas: health and mental health, technology and social services, poverty and inequality, social policy, and social service management and leadership. We aim to attract scholars who can contribute outstanding research, practice frameworks, and policies relevant to Singapore and the Asian region.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Have a PhD in Social Work or a related field that includes a social work degree from earlier training.
  • Have a strong research record and publications.
  • Be able to teach social work courses and contribute to research and scholarship.
  • Show collegiality and collaboration. Successful candidates are expected to contribute positively to a team‑oriented academic environment, engaging constructively with colleagues, students, and community partners.

We offer a competitive remuneration package, including housing and travel benefits. Outstanding junior faculty members may apply to join the highly competitive Presidential Young Professor scheme if selected.
