Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Structural and Cell Biology

The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), College of Science (CoS) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore seeks outstanding candidates to apply for a tenure track position at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor, or tenured Full Professor with a research focus in the field of structural and cell biology.

SBS is searching for individuals with a well‑defined research vision and an outstanding track record of publications in top journals. The successful candidate will establish and maintain an independent extramurally funded research program. The successful candidate is expected to show a strong commitment to departmental undergraduate and graduate mentoring and teaching.

SBS covers several areas of research encompassing genetic, structural, biochemical, and cellular investigator‑led projects offering many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations not only within the school but also with other departments in the university. SBS/NTU offers cutting‑edge infrastructures, such as state‑of‑the‑art structural biology and biophysical facilities (Titan Krios Cryo‑EM, Rigaku FRX X‑ray generator, BLI, ITC), confocal microscopy, a complete set of proteomics facilities and the Singapore phenome centre. SBS has multiple plant growth chambers and walk‑in chambers, designed to cultivate plants under specific, adjustable conditions. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to access other state‑of‑the‑art facilities on campus and to establish fruitful collaborations with other Schools and Research Institutes on campus.

Requirements

• We are seeking a candidate who is ready to establish an independent research programme in structural and/or cell biology, addressing fundamental questions in biological systems. We strongly encourage applications from researchers working in innovative or emerging areas, such as integrative structural biology, in situ structural methods, cellular organisation across scales, or non‑canonical biological systems. We particularly value interdisciplinary approaches that bridge molecular structure with cellular function, and that explore how biological systems are shaped by dynamic, environmental, and physiological contexts.
• We are particularly interested in applicants who can articulate a clear research vision aligned with the strengths of the School and NTU, and who can develop impactful interdisciplinary programmes that will drive the next generation of discoveries at the interface of structural and cell biology.
• The candidate should have a strong research track record in structural and/or cell biology, demonstrated by high‑quality publications and a well‑developed research plan appropriate to their career stage.
• The candidate is also expected to contribute to teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, particularly in areas related to structural biology, cell biology, and biochemistry.
• The candidate must hold a relevant PhD, e.g. in biochemistry or biology with postdoctoral or other professional experience in related research fields.
