Job summary

A global marine service provider in Singapore is seeking a Technician – Diesel to perform mechanical repairs and overhauling of diesel engines. Responsibilities include identifying parts, ensuring quality delivery, and adhering to safety standards. The ideal candidate has a vocational certificate and at least 2 years of experience, preferably with sailing experience. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

Overview

Technician – Diesel at Goltens Worldwide

Locations: Singapore

Department: Diesel Department

Reporting to: Technical Manager – Diesel

Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical overhauling, reconditioning & repairs of 4-stroke and 2-stroke engine parts conveyed to shop.
  • Identify parts that need to be replaced and place orders for parts or repair services as necessary for themselves and the mechanical technicians.
  • Promote awareness and commitment to timely job delivery, quality and cost control.
  • Assist in preparing inspection/calibration reports, spare requisitions and work done reports.
  • Demonstrate efficient job planning and time scheduling.
  • Work with the Department Manager, Service Engineers to support their mechanical repair needs and schedule troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure all timesheets are accurate and submitted to the department manager within specified timelines.
  • Initiate discussions on work-related issues such as conflicts and performance, with a view to seeking solutions.
  • Maintain self-discipline, punctuality according to the company’s bell-to-bell working hour policy and company rules.
  • Execute tasks with all prescribed safety equipment in place and adhere to applicable OSHA rules for themselves and the mechanical technicians.
  • Prioritize safety for yourself and colleagues and follow the company’s environment, health and safety policy.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by manager/management.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Technical / Professional: At least vocational certificate
  • At least 2 years of mechanical repair related experience
  • Preferably sailing experience and with Seaman book
  • Technological: Technical knowledge
  • General: Ability to work well under pressure; demonstrate ability to handle work professionally, independently and efficiently; able to travel frequently
  • People/Relations: Good communication skill
  • Industrial Knowledge: Marine Industry
