Job summary

SMRT Buses Ltd, a subsidiary of SMRT Corporation, is seeking a Technical Training Instructor to deliver hands-on and classroom training for bus technicians and maintenance staff, focusing on systems, procedures and safety.

You will work with engineering teams to update materials and mentor trainees to build practical diagnostic skills, with opportunities to advance into training and development within SMRT's TTC.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, Higher NITEC or NITEC in Mechanical, Automotive or related Engineering disciplines.
  • At least 3–5 years hands-on experience in bus, heavy vehicle or automotive maintenance.
  • Comfortable communicating with technicians of different experience levels.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical training and practical demonstrations to bus technicians and maintenance staff.
  • Conduct classroom and workshop-based training on bus systems, maintenance procedures and safe work practices.
  • Support trainees in developing troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Assess trainee competency through practical exercises and evaluations.
  • Update training materials with support from engineering and technical teams.
  • Maintain training records and documentation.
  • Work closely with depot and engineering teams to ensure training remains relevant to operational needs.

Technical Training Instructor
Job Purpose

We are looking for experienced bus and heavy vehicle maintenance professionals who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and helping technicians grow their skills. If you have hands-on experience maintaining and repairing buses and enjoy coaching or guiding fellow technicians, we welcome you to join our Technical Training Centre (TTC).

Qualifications & Work Experience
  • Diploma, Higher NITEC or NITEC in Mechanical, Automotive or related Engineering disciplines.
  • At least 3–5 years of hands-on experience in bus, heavy vehicle or automotive maintenance.
  • Good practical knowledge of vehicle systems and maintenance processes.
  • Comfortable communicating and engaging with technicians of different experience levels.
  • Able to conduct training in English and one other local language (Mandarin, Malay or Tamil).
  • Prior training, coaching or mentoring experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
Skills
  • Experience with bus maintenance operations.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic equipment and workshop practices.
  • Basic understanding of hybrid or electric vehicle technology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Passion for developing and guiding others.
