Job summary

A leading educational institution in Singapore is seeking a candidate to assist the Art and Music Units. Responsibilities include managing materials, supervising students, and ensuring the upkeep of art and music rooms. Ideal candidates should possess good communication skills, prior experience working with students, and proficiency in MS Office. The role offers working hours from 9 am to 6 pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9 am to 5:30 pm on Fridays.

Qualifications

  • Candidate should possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a good team player with initiative and independence.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office and Excel.
  • Prior experience in schools, working directly with students, required.
  • Experience in a makers space or art studio is a plus.
  • Familiarity with supporting music lessons is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Art Unit with material acquisition and paperwork.
  • Manage the maintenance of art and music rooms.
  • Supervise students in the absence of teaching staff.
  • Communicate with students' schools and parents regarding administrative matters.
  • Monitor security of art and music rooms using CCTV.

Job description
Art:
Main duty:

1. To assist the Art Unit with acquisition of materials (receiving, DO processing of purchases, sorting and keeping purchases) as well as do paperwork for condemnation of obsolete or damaged items, carry out disposal

2. To manage maintenance and upkeep of Art rooms and resources in the Art Block (6 Art rooms and Kiln room, Woodwork room, darkroom and other related areas, including art materials and assets. E.g, Drill press, Bend Saw, 3D printers)

3. To supervise students at work when no teaching staff is around, invigilate tests and internal exams when called upon for assistance.

4. To provide support in managing the attendance of Sec 1-4 AEP Centre students and communicate with sending schools and parents on results and other administrative matters

5. To oversee security of the art rooms by monitoring CCTV data, locking up rooms at 6pm.

6. To provide support and logistical assistance for department and students’ participation (Eg SYF Art Festival) and organisation of art exhibitions (Eg in 2026, Art Festival)

7. To assist in photo-documentation of students at work for purposes of T&L review

8. To oversee any repairs or renovation works being carried out (Eg Renovation of art gallery)

Music:
Main duty:

1. To assist the Music Unit with acquisition of materials and resources/instruments, repair of instruments as well as all related administration matters related to procurement of goods or services (receiving, DO processing of purchases, sorting and keeping purchases)

2. To assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the 5 music-learning rooms, including management of the library, cataloguing and stock taking

3. To supervise students at work on occasions when teaching staff is not around.

4. To oversee security of the music rooms by monitoring CCTV data, locking up rooms by 6pm during term time.

5. To assist in setting up for lessons in terms of instruments / computer / electronic set up

7. To assist in setting up of video cameras for practical examinations

Requirement:
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good team player with a high level of initiative and independence.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Excel
  • Candidate with prior working experience in schools (at least in the last 2 consecutive years), directly with students.
  • Qualification: Full GCE O Level certificate or its equivalent
  • Have some prior experience in a makers space or art studio environment
  • Have some prior experience in supporting music lessons and maintain music rooms
  • Have prior experience working on several projects or several teams concurrently.
Working Hours:
  • Mondays to Thursdays: 9:00am to 6:00pm, inclusive of 30 minutes lunch break
  • Fridays: 9:00am to 5:30pm, inclusive of 30 minutes lunch break
