Job description
Technical Support Chemist (Segregation)

Salary: S$3,200 – S$3,600

Working Hours: 5 Days Monday to Friday: 8am to 5pm

Location: Tuas, West Singapore (Company Transport / Transport Allowance $120 if candidate possess own transport)

Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering or Chemistry

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support the functions of incoming waste segregation including bulk waste and loose waste as well as weighbridge.
  • Constantly monitor and improve department performance.
  • Conduct periodic review of existing workflows and procedures, make recommendations for improvements and execute improvement plans.
  • Supervise and ensure the effectiveness and smoothness of waste unloading, segregation and distribution.
  • Daily and regular inspection of the plant processes, monitor the working area 5S and TPM activities, safety and discipline at work, machineries and equipment conditions.
  • Ensure incoming waste streams are checked properly for suitable treatment processes and current safe work procedures are suitable for handling by operation staff.
  • As the core coordinator, lead and monitor communication flow among internal departments on incoming waste discrepancy and revise related SOPs accordingly.
  • Evaluate and develop new treatment methods and handling procedures for new and unknown wastes, review operation costs and regularly update management.
  • Implement and supervise correct EHS practices within the department.
  • Work with resale for arrangement of recovered products to minimize the storage.
  • Prepare and analyse daily and monthly operation records/reports (e.g., cost, productivity, quality, nonconformance, etc) on plant processing and maintenance.
  • Follow up necessary corrective actions and monitor consistently to relevant department staff to follow up closely.
  • Regular briefing / training to department staff for safety handling of high flammable solvent, MSDS, PPE requirement and risk assessment before operations.
  • Activate emergency response team of operation and maintenance staff and respond to any in house spill and fire incident if in case of emergency.
  • Liaise with EHS department to ensure fellow staff handle and emergency equipment usage in terms of spills and fire incident and conduct regular practice and drill exercises with different scenarios to workers so that they are well familiar in emergency response in time.
  • Ensure all fellow staff are well trained according to OJT program and can follow SOPs and work safely.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by the Management from time to time.
  • As an ISO committee member, develop and implement documents for operation procedures such as SOP, RA and MOC, SWP and participate in auditing various departments as an Internal Auditor.
