The Position
Technical Manager, Companion Animals, Therapeutics, ASKAN leads regional technical strategy and service delivery for companion animal therapeutics. The position ensures alignment with business objectives, drives scientific excellence, and fosters collaboration across markets. The leader will engage with key stakeholders, guide technical teams, and contribute to innovation, education, and evidence generation to strengthen Boehringer Ingelheim’s position as a trusted partner in the region.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement regional technical service strategy aligned with business goals.
- Translate global technical strategies into regional context.
- Contribute veterinary expertise to marketing strategies, launch plans, and life-cycle management.
- Maintain awareness of regional disease trends and ensure consistency in technical service delivery.
- Facilitate cross-country knowledge sharing and lead regional technical meetings.
- Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, veterinary associations, and strategic partners.
- Represent the region at internal and external meetings and advisory boards.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and talent development for technical teams.
- Support sales leadership with technical capability building.
- Propose and manage regional technical services budget.
- Act as the regional expert for companion animal therapeutics, ensuring scientific accuracy and differentiation.
- Interpret and disseminate scientific data to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver advanced technical training programs.
- Monitor competitor products and strategies to maintain strong defense.
- Lead regional clinical research initiatives and multi-country trials where appropriate.
- Drive innovation in technical service delivery and digital transformation.
- Manage resolution of complex technical issues and regional crisis response.
- Design and implement talent development programs and competency frameworks.
Requirements:
- Degree in Veterinary Science required; Internal Medicine specialization is a plus.
- Minimum 4-5 years of experience as a Technical Veterinarian or practicing Veterinarian.
- Experience in animal health is preferred.
- Experience working with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)/Thought Leaders.
- Strong communication skills in order to facilitate discussions across functions and across regions.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills along with excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to develop stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to lead and coordinate medium/large and diverse groups of professionals.
- Demonstrated solid decision making and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, initiative, creativity and proven track record for innovation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, collaborate and deliver results in a highly matrix organization.
