Job summary

Activate Interactive Pte Ltd is seeking a hands-on Tech Lead to drive Java/Spring Boot back-end development and front-end ReactJS coordination for enterprise applications in Singapore. This role will mentor developers, shape architectures, review code, and ensure delivery quality while aligning with security and DevOps practices.

You will lead full-stack delivery, collaborate with architects and managers, and contribute to cloud-enabled projects including government-related initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong Java development experience, preferably Java 8/11/17+ and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Strong experience in RESTful API and enterprise application development.
• Good understanding of relational databases, SQL, transaction management and database performance.
• Practical ReactJS experience, including component development, state management, API integration and frontend debugging.
• Experience with software design, design patterns, clean code, unit/integration testing and code review.
• Experience leading technical implementation and resolving complex application issues.
• Familiarity with Git-based source control and CI/CD practices.
• Understanding of application security, secure coding and common web application vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of Java/Spring Boot applications and related ReactJS frontend components.
• Design and review application architecture, APIs, database structures, integration approaches and technical solutions.
• Lead developers in implementation, code review, debugging, performance optimization and production issue resolution.
• Establish and enforce coding standards, design principles, secure development practices, testing and code quality controls.
• Review technical estimates and implementation approaches; identify technical risks, dependencies and mitigation actions.
• Work closely with Solution Architects, Project Managers, Business Analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into deliverable solutions.
• Mentor and coach developers, conduct technical knowledge sharing and support capability development within the team.
• Support technical presales, proposals, solutioning and proof‑of‑concepts when required.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical problems across application, integration, database and deployment layers
• Promote reuse of common components, libraries, development patterns and automation to improve delivery efficiency.
• Ensure project implementations comply with applicable security, quality, development and delivery processes.
• Keep abreast of Java, ReactJS, cloud, AI‑assisted development and other relevant technology developments and assess their practical application.

What will you do?

Provide technical leadership for Java-based application development and delivery, with sufficient ReactJS capability to lead full-stack development teams. The role is responsible for translating functional requirements into robust technical solutions, ensuring engineering quality, mentoring developers, resolving complex technical issues and supporting successful project delivery. The Tech Lead is expected to remain hands‑on while establishing reusable engineering practices and maintaining alignment with the department's technology, security and quality standards.

Domain Skills

Compulsory (Must-have)

• Strong Java development experience, preferably Java 8/11/17+ and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Strong experience in RESTful API and enterprise application development.
• Good understanding of relational databases, SQL, transaction management and database performance.
• Practical ReactJS experience, including component development, state management, API integration and frontend debugging.

• Experience in public‑sector, enterprise or large‑scale transactional systems

Education and Certification

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Java/Spring, AWS/cloud, Kubernetes, security or relevant professional certifications is preferred, but not a must
• Relevant Agile/Scrum or technical leadership certification is preferred

Experience

• Minimum 7 years of relevant software development experience, with substantial hands‑on Java experience.
• At least 2 years of experience leading developers or acting as a Tech Lead/Senior Engineer with technical leadership responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise Java applications from design through implementation, testing and production support.
• Practical ReactJS experience sufficient to review frontend design and implementation and guide ReactJS developers.
• Experience conducting code/design reviews and troubleshooting complex production issues
• Experience leading full‑stack teams covering Java backend and ReactJS frontend.
• Experience in cloud‑based application development, CI/CD and containerized deployment
• Experience in public‑sector or large enterprise application projects
