Teaching Assistant

The German European School Singapore (GESS) is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support classroom activities, student care and collaborative planning.

Responsibilities
  • Embrace all aspects of school life.
  • Show enthusiasm and passion when working with children.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher, parents and children to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Develop respectful relationships with children, parents and teachers.
  • Be responsible and accountable for the supervision of children at all times.
  • Plan and prepare classroom activities, portfolios and school events with classroom teacher.
  • Work cohesively with parents and other members of the school community.
  • Assist in the routine care of children.
  • Communicate with parents, teachers and school community.
  • Support a culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate the highest levels of honesty, integrity and professionalism.
  • Attend staff meetings, collaborative planning meetings and other school events, when required, e.g. professional development.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in German (spoken & written), as the class will be conducted in German.
  • Good English skills (spoken & written), as you will be interacting with English‑speaking students.
  • Engaging and attentive disposition with a passion and talent to work with young children.
  • Experience in teaching hands‑on and inquiry‑led approaches as well as in a play‑based curriculum.
  • Friendly and welcoming manner when approaching people.
  • Strong work ethic, positive working attitude and a great team player.
  • Excellent German language knowledge (spoken & written).
  • Good English language knowledge for working with English‑speaking children.
  • Autonomous, reliable and joyful working with children.
  • Engaged and attentive personality with passion for working with small children.
  • Experience in applying practice‑based and research‑based approaches as well as in a play‑based curriculum.
  • Proactive personality with high work ethic, positive attitude and strong teamwork ability.
