About the Course

Vertical Institute’s Data Science Course provides learners with practical, in-demand skills in Python programming, data manipulation, exploratory data analysis, and machine learning. Through a hands-on, project-based approach, learners are introduced to industry-standard tools such as NumPy, Pandas, and scikit-learn, preparing them for real-world data science roles.

Classes are held during weekday evenings or weekends and led by an experienced instructor, supported by a teaching assistant.

Role Overview

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support the lead instructor in delivering a smooth, engaging, and effective learning experience. You’ll assist learners during live sessions, troubleshoot coding issues, and offer continuous support throughout the course.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the instructor during live Zoom classes
  • Guide learners through hands-on labs and exercises across all modules, including:
  • Python programming for data science
  • Data wrangling with NumPy and Pandas
  • Exploratory data analysis and visualization
  • Machine learning concepts (regression, classification) using scikit-learn
  • Provide learner support through our Telegram community and e-learning platform, helping to answer questions and resolve technical issues
  • Accurately track and mark attendance in compliance with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) standards
  • Share learner insights and feedback with the academic team to enhance the course experience and outcomes
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proficient in Python and key data science libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, scikit-learn)
  • Solid understanding of data manipulation, exploratory data analysis, and basic machine learning algorithms
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and effectively to beginners
  • Confident in virtual facilitation using Zoom, with a reliable remote setup (camera, microphone, stable internet)
  • Must have ACTA/ACLP Certificate
  • Prior experience as a teaching assistant, mentor, or trainer is an advantage
