Job summary

You will adapt activities under teacher direction, assist with personal care, monitor progress toward IEP goals, participate in team meetings, and provide feedback to certified staff to support effective remediation and inclusive education.

Responsibilities

  • Adapts to classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing an opportunity for all special education students to participate in classroom activities.
  • Administers first-aid and prescription medication to special education students for the purpose of providing emergency or necessary care in accordance with the school requirements.
  • Assists other personal as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Assists special education students requiring daily care (e.g., toileting, diapering, feeding, etc. ) for the purpose of providing appropriate care and/or developing students' daily living activities and behavioural skills (as assigned).
  • Confers with the teachers, parents and /or participates in team meetings for the purpose of assisting in evaluating special education students' progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.
  • Implements academic instructions assigned by the teacher for individuals or small groups for the purpose of meeting learning goals, as described in the IEP.

Saint Clare School for special Education , an Edutrust certified Private Educational Institution is looking for teacher assistants to provide assistance across the whole school in supervising and helping our students

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adapts to classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing an opportunity for all special education students to participate in classroom activities.
  • Administers first-aid and prescription medication to special education students for the purpose of providing emergency or necessary care in accordance with the school requirements.
  • Assists other personal as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Assists special education students requiring daily care (e.g., toileting, diapering, feeding, etc. ) for the purpose of providing appropriate care and/or developing students' daily living activities and behavioural skills (as assigned).
  • Confers with the teachers, parents and /or participates in team meetings for the purpose of assisting in evaluating special education students' progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.
  • Implements academic instructions assigned by the teacher for individuals or small groups for the purpose of meeting learning goals, as described in the IEP.
  • Implements behavioural plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavioural issues or other challenging conditions for the purpose of assisting in meeting special education students' needs and providing a consistent environment.
  • Monitors and assists individual special education student in the classroom, library, playground, community outings, vocational attachments, public transportation, learning journey etc., for the purpose of ensuring the safety of assigned students
  • Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (eg. toilets, playground, hallway, bus loading and unloading zones, cafeteria, parking lots, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of the special education students.
  • Performs record keeping duties (daily data on instruction and/or behaviour) and clerical functions (eg. correcting papers, photo copying etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or administrator in providing necessary records/materials.
  • Provides direct instructional services to students under the supervision of a certified staff member for the purpose of implementing IEP goals and/or remediating student deficiencies.
  • Provides verbal and/or written feedback of observations for the purpose of assisting certified staff in evaluating students.
