Position Title:

Taekwondo Instructor (CCA Programme)

Reporting To:

Teacher-in-Charge / HOD PE & CCA

Job Description

The Taekwondo Instructor shall:

  1. Plan, design and deliver a structured Taekwondo CCA training programme that is developmentally appropriate for students across the different levels (e.g. Primary 3–6 / Secondary 1–5 / JC 1–2), in alignment with the school’s vision, mission and values.
  2. Conduct progressive training to build students’ fundamental techniques in Taekwondo, including:
    Stances and basic movements
    Kicks, strikes and blocks
    Poomsae (forms) training
    Sparring techniques and discipline
    Self-defence and etiquette
  3. Instil sportsmanship, respect, perseverance, and teamwork through all CCA activities, in line with the school’s character and values education.
  4. Ensure safety and well-being of all students at all times, conducting warm-up and cool-down exercises, and adhering to recognised Taekwondo safety standards.
  5. Prepare and guide students for:
    Internal and external assessments
    Belt gradings (if applicable)
    School demonstrations or competitions (e.g. National School Games)
  6. Work collaboratively with teachers-in-charge to review progress, update lesson plans, and adjust training content to meet developmental needs.
  7. Submit lesson plans, attendance, and progress reports regularly to the teacher-in-charge.
  8. Provide feedback on student progress, discipline, and participation.
  9. Conduct online/e-CCA sessions if required, ensuring training continuity during any home-based learning period.
  10. Uphold professionalism and compliance with MOE’s “Reference Guide for Engagement of Coaches and Instructors.”
Job Requirements
  1. Qualifications Minimum Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) Certified Coach / NCAP Level 1 or higher (or equivalent certification recognised by Sport Singapore).
    Current Standard First Aid + AED certification.
    Preferably registered with MOE’s Sports Coaches Registry.
  2. Experience Minimum 2 years of experience coaching children or youth in schools or clubs.
    Proven track record in developing students’ technical and character competencies.
    Experience in preparing students for belt grading, demonstrations, or competitions preferred.
  3. Competencies Strong knowledge of Taekwondo techniques, poomsae, sparring, and self-defence.
    Ability to motivate and engage students through positive reinforcement.
    Strong classroom and group management skills.
    Ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit diverse learning abilities and ages.
  4. Other Requirements Must be responsible, punctual, and committed to the full duration of the contract.
    Must comply with MOE and school safety policies.
    Must maintain professional conduct and attire at all times.
    Willingness to attend coordination meetings and adapt lesson plans based on school feedback.
