Job description

This is a permanent opportunity to join one of the largest long-term projects for a government sector company at the beginning of year 2026. The Systems Analyst (Data / BI) role will create analytics content based on specifications developed by business analysts. The role also covers the design and writing of reports grounded in an in-depth knowledge of operational system usage. This role requires a deep understanding of system build, end user workflows, and usage patterns. This also possesses both the technical skills necessary to design and write reports and the operational knowledge to help stakeholders understand what report consumers need to see.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Configuring and maintaining the system databases according to the environment strategy
• Engaging in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources
• Monitoring database size and health
• Creating and managing plans for maintaining statistics and indexes
• Understanding performance metrics, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issues
• Following vendor and Epic best practices for hardware and software configuration
• Meeting with Cogito Process Analysts (PA) and report requesters (SMEs) to understand their data needs
• Identifying and reviewing the appropriate technological solutions for various reporting needs
• Creating reports, using a third-party report writing tool such as Crystal reports, to display data
• Writing SQL for custom SQL metrics
• Modifying existing reports, as necessary
• Distributing reports to report consumers using Epic-Crystal integration
• Reviewing peer reports for validity
• Testing report build in a specified testing environment and volume testing in live environments
• Reviewing upgrade documentation related to system features and released system reporting content, and determining how to implement the changes
• Might also be responsible for building: Universes and cubes, Extracts, SlicerDicer, Third-party tools (WebI/QlikView/Tableau)

REQUIREMENTS:

• A degree in engineering, physics, computer sciences, math, information systems, or statistics
• At least 1-3 years’ experience in developing, implementing and maintaining IT systems
• Strong communication skills

• Technically proficient in your analytical database platforms
• Working knowledge of the database operating systems
• Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts
• Proficiency and demonstrated experience with report writing tools
• Familiarity with Epic applications and database structure, through training that occurs early in the implementation
