About the Role
We are seeking a System Management Office (SMO) Engineer to support the clients System Management Office, reporting to the System Managers and working closely with end users and vendors. You will provide oversight of operations and maintenance activities for data network systems, ensuring compliance, risk management, and operational excellence across mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the System Managers in overseeing operations and maintenance activities for data network systems.
- Manage incident, problem, and change management processes, as well as risk, obsolescence, and vulnerability management.
- Lead vendor operations and support (O&S) teams in conducting fault analysis, problem resolution, patch management, and preventive maintenance.
- Coordinate with end users for initial fault investigation, troubleshooting, and scheduling of onsite activities.
- Ensure timely vendor response and resolution for all incidents and service requests.
- Review and summarize vendor monthly reports on system health, faults, service levels, change requests, vulnerabilities, and end-of-life (EOL) items.
- Evaluate vendor service requests, maintenance activities, and deliverables to ensure quality and compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
- Drive service improvements and governance initiatives to enhance operational performance.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent.
- 34 years of experience in core network support and maintenance, risk assessment, change requests, tech refresh, vulnerabilities assessment, and patching.
- Certification in CCNA or equivalent is required.
- Strong working knowledge of networking concepts, equipment, and related systems, including firewalls, switches, routers, DNS, DHCP, NTP configuration, and TCP/IP networking.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate vendor teams, manage SLAs, and plan onsite activities.
- Skilled in producing detailed reports, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring compliance with policies and standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a track record of effective stakeholder management across system managers, end users, and vendors.
- Prior experience in defence or government organizations requiring security clearance is highly preferred.
- Resourceful, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
