Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Technical Delivery & Systems Analysis
  • Own BI FAST RFP, eMandate and Direct Debit delivery across requirements → solution design → integration → testing → rollout.
  • Produce engineering ready specifications: API specs (REST/JSON), OpenAPI/Swagger definitions; Microservices contracts; event schemas; sequence diagrams; mapping specs; error models
  • Define end to end orchestration flows for RFP initiation, mandate lifecycle events, and Direct Debit presentment, validation, debit and return
  • Specify robust pre processing logic: customer/account validation; entitlement and authorisation checks; funds availability; fraud/AML/sanctions gating; limits; idempotency, retry and timeout handling
  • API & Microservices Architecture; reuse existing components: Payment initiation, validation/entitlement, fraud adapters; core banking and ledger integration patterns
  • Ensure microservices follow engineering principles: loose coupling; async event-driven integration; high availability; observability
  • User Journeys, Entitlements & Authorisation; align journeys with per transaction limits and maker-checker workflows
  • Coordinate with channel teams for parity across Mobile, Internet Banking, H2H, and API Banking
  • Integration & Platform Engineering; design integration between Payment Hub/RFP Orchestrator, BI FAST gateway, mandates, direct debit engines; core banking and AML
  • Use existing microservices blueprints for error propagation, schema validation, event lifecycle management, callback patterns
  • Scheme, Regulatory & Risk Alignment; translate scheme rules into validation rules, mappings, and reverse workflows
  • Embed mandatory controls: AML/CFT, fraud monitoring, non-repudiation, TRM and cybersecurity
  • Testing, Deployment & Operational Readiness; lead SIT/UAT/E2E tests for RFP, mandate, direct debit; ensure monitoring and runbooks
  • Support scheme certification and phased deployment; measure success by high quality delivery and strong reuse of microservices

We are seeking a highly skilled System Analyst with a strong background in Open API and Microservices architecture. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java programming and a passion for developing innovative solutions to complex problems.

Responsibilities
  1. Technical Delivery & Systems Analysis
  2. Own BI FAST RFP, eMandate and Direct Debit delivery across requirements → solution design → integration → testing → rollout.
  3. Produce engineering ready specifications:
    1. API specs (REST/JSON), OpenAPI/Swagger definitions
    2. Microservices interface contracts, event schemas, callback payloads
    3. Sequence diagrams, state machines, mapping specs, error models
  4. Define end to end orchestration flows for:
    1. RFP initiation, acceptance, expiry, rejection
    2. Mandate lifecycle events
    3. Direct Debit presentment, validation, debit and return
  5. Specify robust pre processing logic:
    1. Customer/account validation
    2. Entitlement and authorisation checks
    3. Funds availability
    4. Fraud/AML/sanctions gating
    5. Limits, thresholds, duplicate suppression
    6. Idempotency, retry and timeout handling
  6. API & Microservices Architecture
  7. Define API and microservices designs using existing components from previous UOB builds:
    1. Payment initiation microservices
    2. Validation & entitlement services
    3. Fraud/AML adapters
    4. Core banking and ledger integration patterns
  8. Reuse existing:
    1. API standards (naming conventions, response structures, error formats)
    2. Security models (OAuth2/JWT, mTLS, signature validation)
    3. Eventing patterns (Kafka topics, event schemas, DLQ handling)
    4. Common libraries for logging, telemetry, utility functions
  9. Ensure microservices follow UOB's engineering principles:
    1. Loose coupling, clear domain boundaries
    2. Async event driven integration where applicable
    3. High availability and horizontal scalability
    4. Observability (structured logs, metrics, tracing)
  10. User Journeys, Entitlements & Authorisation
  11. Define user journeys for:
    1. RFP initiation (corporate/merchant)
    2. RFP acceptance (retail/corporate)
    3. Mandate creation and management
    4. Direct Debit debit and return flows
  12. Align journeys with entitlements and auth rules:
    1. Per transaction and daily limits
    2. Maker checker workflows for corporates
    3. Channel specific access rights
  13. Coordinate with channel teams to maintain parity across Mobile, Internet Banking, H2H and API Banking.
  14. Integration & Platform Engineering
  15. Design integration between:
    1. Payment Hub / RFP Orchestrator
    2. BI FAST gateway
    3. Mandate / Direct Debit engines
    4. Core banking, ledger, AML, fraud
  16. Use existing microservices blueprints for:
    1. Error propagation and code mapping
    2. Schema validation and transformation
    3. Event lifecycle management
    4. Callback patterns and async updates
  17. Scheme, Regulatory & Risk Alignment
  18. Translate BI FAST RFP, eMandate and Direct Debit scheme rules into:
    1. Validation rules
    2. Reason code mappings
    3. Reversal/return workflows
  19. Embed mandatory controls:
    1. AML/CFT & sanctions
    2. Fraud monitoring
    3. Non repudiation and evidence capture
    4. TRM, cybersecurity and audit trail requirements
  20. Testing, Deployment & Operational Readiness
  21. Lead SIT/UAT/E2E test scenario design for:
    1. RFP → acceptance → settlement flows
    2. Mandate lifecycle
    3. Direct Debit presentment/return/dispute cases
    4. Timeouts, retries, negative tests
  22. Work with Engineering & Ops to ensure:
    1. Monitoring dashboards and alerts
    2. Reconciliation and exception queues
    3. Runbooks for replay, retry and operational fixes
  23. Support scheme certification and phased deployment.
  24. Success Measures
    1. High quality BI FAST RFP, eMandate and Direct Debit delivery with minimal defects.
    2. Strong reuse of existing microservices, reducing build complexity and time to market.
    3. High STP rates, stable performance and consistent low latency behaviour.
    4. Clear, engineering ready specifications enabling smooth developer adoption.
    5. Strong governance alignment across Product, Engineering, Operations and Risk.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10-11 years of experience in system analysis and design, specifically with Open API and Microservices.
  • Strong programming skills in Java and familiarity with Java frameworks (Spring, Hibernate).
  • Proficient in RESTful API design and implementation.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of database management systems (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
