Job description

Responsibilities

Lifeguard

• Warn member against unsafe practices.
• Watch swimmers through safe scanning.
• Perform rescues/assists as needed.
• Enforce pool rules and regulations.
• Inspect equipment and clean the area as directed.
• Complete Accident/Incident Reports as needed.
• Perform first aid and administer emergency care as needed.
• Understand and be able to perform all EAPs.
• Take responsibility for opening and closing shifts as required.
• Monitor lightning detector and react accordingly, closing the pool when needed.
• Conduct water quality tests as needed.
• Participate in On-The-Job training as required.
• Participate in emergency drills.
• Perform daily safety checks of pool, pump room and surrounding areas.
• Complete daily check lists.
• Undertake scheduled cleaning and maintenance of pool equipment.
• Daily cleaning, vacuuming, and scrubbing of pool.

Swim Teacher

• Conduct Group swimming classes / activities as per the group swimming / activities class /group fitness class timetable.
• Develop and maintain private swimming lesson clientele and conduct private swimming classes as per individual appointments.
• Source for additional Swimming Teacher cover as the need arises.
• Participate in monthly staff training sessions as scheduled.
• Actively promote all aquatic programs throughout The Club.
• Assist the Contract Swimming Coaches as required.
• Answer Member questions and follow up with timely phone calls regarding Aquatics programs and events.
• Assist with the swim program administration and any special swim events administration.
• Assist in developing new programs and events.
• Perform any other assignments/tasks assigned by the Aquatics Manager
• Assist with planning and executing the organization of Aquatics Special Events, Swim meets internal and external, Junior Lifesaving Awards etc.
• Additional Lifeguard/Cover
• Provide additional Lifeguard/counter cover and related duties as the need arises.
• Attend lifeguard training / workshops as scheduled by Aquatics Manager/Swimming Coordinator/Chief Lifeguard

Requirements

• Bronze Medallion/Lifesaver 1, 2, 3/Ellis & Associates LG
• CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• Customer Service Experience
• High level of swimming ability
• Good interpersonal skills, experience, and commitment to customer service
• Ability to work under pressure and without supervision.
• Competent swimmer
