Overview

UWCSEA East Campusis looking for a Swim Coach.

UWCSEA Dragons Swim Team seeks an experienced and forward thinking person for the role of Swim Coach. This person should display initiative and confidence, particularly when coaching the Junior Squad and Age Group programmes. The candidate will also be confident as a support coach at Senior Squad level. The appropriate person should be dynamic and able to adapt to our ever-changing and growing swim programme within the context of an International School setting.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work with team members to achieve a common goal and improve as a team.
  • Teach swimming as part of the Infant school activities program
  • Lead a Development squad
  • Lead a Middle school squad.
  • Prepare, plan and deliver technically sound session plans in line with the overall program philosophy and plan.
  • Monitor student attendance/progress and provide feedback to parents periodically
  • Manage & achieve targets based on annual plans.
  • Assist PE teachers with delivering PE lessons during swim units throughout the school year.
  • Look at every setback during coaching as an opportunity to learn and improve.
  • Ensure the pool area is safe, secure and presentable at all times.
  • Maintain necessary administrative log records and arrange setup and clearing of equipment for swim classes and swim events.
  • Maintain Equipment checklist and report to the Head of Aquatics any concerns.
  • Assist in coordinating preseason assessments, registrations, trials, and class allocations.
  • Assist with the signup process, in line with the Dragons Swimming Program.
  • Respond to and follow up on any parent enquiries by email and telephone.
  • Complete Swim Meet Entries.
  • Attend and coach at meets in which the Swim Team is competing.
  • Plan sessions and track athletes’ performance.
  • Assist to ensure meets can be run smoothly.
  • Assist in liaising with parent volunteers and High School volunteers and provide direction and guidance to their supporting role.
Person Specifications
  • Level 2 Coach or UKCC Level 2 certified or International equivalent
  • Certified First Aider
  • Qualified swim coach with minimum 2 years of experience coaching
  • Computer literate and familiar with Gmail and google platforms (Familiar with Full Solution ACTIVE HyTek' Swim Software: Team Manager & Meet Manager)
  • Confident in using social media, responsibly, as a tool to promote learning
  • Able to work with children of different age groups
  • A team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask and work independently
  • Confidently communicate with International School parents and staff. This will include regular public speaking, daily email communication and an understanding of the International School environment
