We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, conscientious and proactive individual to join us as: Full-Time Swim Coach

Overview

The Swim Coach reports to the Head of Swimming/Aquatics. He / She will be a key member of the Aquatics, ESPE & HSPE department, responsible for the technical development of the SJI International Tigers Swim Team and the delivery of the aquatic curriculum across the school. This role requires flexibility, strong technical expertise, and a commitment to ensuring the highest safety standards at all times, including necessary lifeguarding duties.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Competitive Swim Program & Coaching:
    • Swim Team Coaching: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, structured training sessions for all age groups of the SJI International Tigers Swim Team.
    • Competition Management: Attend and coach at designated weekend competitions as required by the Head of Swimming, ensuring efficient logistical support and swimmer preparation.
    • Swim Camps: Participate in and coach during Swim Camps scheduled during school holidays, as and when required by the Head of Swimming. A minimum of 3 swim camps a year is required.
  • Curriculum & Instruction:
    • Elementary School (ES) Curriculum: Deliver engaging and effective swimming instruction as part of the core ES Physical Education curriculum.
    • High School (HS) Aquatics: Assist in the delivery of the HS Aquatics Curriculum, focusing on skill progression, water safety, and fitness.
  • Learn to Swim (LTS) & Development:
    • Saturday LTS Program: Coach and/or coordinate the Saturday Learn to Swim program (8:00 AM – 10:15 AM), ensuring the smooth operation and high-quality instruction for younger community members.
  • Safety & Lifeguarding:
    • Lifeguarding: Serve as a certified lifeguard, providing dedicated pool safety supervision whenever required and scheduled by the Head of Swimming.
    • EAP Compliance: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), and pool usage SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
Qualifications and Skills
  • Certification: Certified Swim Coach (e.g., NROC, AUSTSWIM, ASCA or equivalent).
  • Lifeguard Certification: up-to-date first aid, CPR, AED and Singapore recognized bronze medallion Lifeguard Certification is essential.
  • Experience: Proven experience coaching competitive swimmers for at least 5 years (ideally within an international school setting).
  • Qualities: Strong communication skills, exceptional leadership ability, commitment to child safeguarding, and a positive, enthusiastic approach to developing young athletes.
Working Hours
  • Monday to Friday (8:00 AM – 5:30 PM) subjected to change according to the needs of the programme as directed by the Head of Swimming.
  • Weekend Commitment- Saturday Learn to Swim (LTS) Program: Coaching & Coordinating (8:00 AM – 11:00 AM).
  • Weekend swim competitions.
  • Hours will be flexible & planned accordingly with staff wellbeing as a priority & needs of the swim programme.
