You will assist in integrating sustainability considerations across asset classes to enhance investment decisions and report to the Head of Sustainability. Job description
Role summary

This role will report directly to the Head of Sustainability, working within the broader Investment Group.

The selected candidate will primarily support the Sustainability team’s effort in generating investment alpha, by integrating sustainability considerations across asset class to enhance the overall investment decision-making process.

The role will also, as part of the team, support Fullerton’s efforts to maintain smooth ESG data operations and optimize tools to support the overall investment analysis and trading process, and support corporate sustainability reporting and practices where needed.

The candidate is expected to be self-driven in identification (including research) and contribution toward investment alpha and to engage stakeholders purposefully in this process.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Assisting and supporting the Head of Sustainability and Investment Group to deliver better risk-adjusted returns within various asset classes as a primary objective, examples include but are not limited to the following:

  • Public equities: Preparing short investment memos identifying key investable secular trends, and communicating these to investment analysts and portfolio managers to drive idea generation
  • Fixed income: Conducting analysis and identifying ESG factors which can influence credit ratings including avoiding ESG-related tail risks or latent risks; research on GSSS bond opportunities; and uncovering potential mispricing opportunities in transitioning industries or ESG improvers
  • Private equity decarbonization fund: Ensuring decarbonization goals are embedded within the business models of portfolio companies; as part of overall ESG due diligence process
  • Macro-research: Contributing to ESG quantitative research such as under the context of factor models or sustainability strategies, to use ESG as an input to generate or protect alpha

2. Supporting the team to ensure a smooth operationalization and controls of ESG within investment, trading, client management to enable stakeholders in achieving and communicating ESG integration. These include:

  • Developing tools, alongside the technology and/or AI team where applicable, to optimize ESG implementation for investment and trading processes
  • Maintaining ESG databases
  • Supporting client reporting requirements

3. Supporting the firm’s active ownership efforts with portfolio companies, across asset classes.

4. Supporting implementation of corporate sustainability strategies and the publication of the firm’s annual Sustainability Report.

Education Qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or a relevant discipline
Experience and Skills
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience of working to deliver sustainability outcomes under a commercial lens or investment setting
  • Data analysis skills, proficient in Python, SQL or another data science programming language
  • Highly motivated in supporting investment process to achieve ESG alpha
  • Willing to take initiative including identifying and closing own skill gaps
  • Good team player, embrace a collaborative and open working culture.
  • Willing to speak up and challenge status quo.
  • Stakeholder management skills to communicate effectively and achieve buy-in
  • Ability to work under pressure and timeline.
