Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years of experience in sustainability within the hospitality sector. Excellent analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sustainability roles within the hospitality industry, preferably at a corporate level.
  • Ability to conduct sustainability training for Department Heads and property teams.
  • Experience in preparing sustainability reports for internal stakeholders and external certifications.

Overview

Position Summary

The Sustainability Manager is responsible for leading and implementing the group’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy across all properties. This role ensures alignment with global standards such as EarthCheck, drives measurable environmental and social impact, and fosters a culture of sustainability throughout the organisation. The manager will collaborate with property teams, corporate departments, and external partners to embed sustainability into operations, compliance, and guest experience.

Responsibilities

The Role

Strategic Leadership & Compliance

  • Develop and execute group-wide sustainability strategies in line with Capella’s brand values and EarthCheck certification requirements.
  • Lead the Green Team initiative, coordinating bi-monthly meetings and tracking energy, water, waste, and plastic consumption across properties and driving sustainability efforts at the Corporate Office through strategic partnerships and agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with sustainability audits and reporting standards, including EarthCheck, GSTC, and internal KPIs.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track and analyse environmental metrics such as carbon emissions, water usage, and waste generation, using dashboards and trackers.
  • Prepare sustainability reports for internal stakeholders and external certifications, including the annual Capella Hotel Group Sustainability Report.

Training & Engagement

  • Conduct EarthCheck Sustainability training for Department Heads and property teams.
  • Promote sustainability awareness and engagement through CSR programmes, events, and internal communications.
  • Develop communication strategies to raise awareness and drive colleague and teammate engagement in sustainability initiatives.
  • Represent the Group at sustainability forums, hospitality conferences, and industry working groups.

Project Management & Innovation

  • Work closely with property-level sustainability champions and General Managers to translate Group policies into measurable on-site actions.
  • Partner with brand and operations leaders to integrate sustainability principles into guest experience and procurement.
Talent Profile

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Hospitality Management, or related field.

Work Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in sustainability roles within the hospitality industry, preferably at a corporate level.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Technical Skills

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and sustainability reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with EarthCheck, GSTC, and other sustainability frameworks.
