Sustainability & ESG Engineer
Entity: Sobono Greenland Pte Ltd(SGPL)
Reporting To: General Manager, SGPL
Location: Singapore (with regional exposure)
Role Purpose
The Sustainability & ESGEngineer will serve as a group-level analytical and technical contributor, supporting Sobono Group’s sustainability, ESG, and green value strategy across multiple projects and subsidiaries.
The role focuses on feasibility studies, carbon accounting, life-cycle assessment, regulatory engagement, and green value monetisation, ensuring that sustainability considerations are embedded in project development, investment decisions, and commercial structures. The position requires close coordination with internal project teams, external partners, regulators, financiers, and certification bodies.
Key Responsibilities
1. ESG & SustainabilityFramework Development (High Emphasis)
- Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of group-wide ESG and sustainability frameworks aligned with Sobono Group’s strategic objectives.
- Assist in structuring sustainability governance, policies, and procedures across projects and entities.
- Monitor evolving regulatory, market, and disclosure requirements relevant to renewable energy and infrastructure assets.
2. Carbon Accounting &Life-Cycle Assessment (High Emphasis)
- Prepare and maintain Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas inventories for projects and operating assets.
- Conduct Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and emissions modelling for:
- Renewable energy plants
- Biomass and feedstock supply chains
- Utility and industrial energy systems
- Support scenario analysis and benchmarking of emissions intensity, carbon abatement potential, and regulatory compliance thresholds.
3. Green Value Creation &Monetisation (High Emphasis)
- Support the development and management of greenattributes, including:
- I-RECs
- Carbon credits and certificates
- Quantify green value outputs and integrate sustainability metrics into commercial and financial models.
- Assist in defining monetisation pathways for environmental attributes and low-carbon performance.
4. Regulatory Submissions &ESG Disclosures (High Emphasis)
- Prepare sustainability-related inputs for:
- Regulatory submissions and applications
- ESG disclosures and reporting packages
- Support alignment with ESG and disclosureframeworks such as ISSB, TCFD, TNFD, GRI, MAS, and SGX guidelines (asapplicable).
- Engage with regulators and public agenciesincluding NEA, EMA, JTC, MAS, and Enterprise Singapore onsustainability-related matters.
5. Certification, Registry &External Engagement
- Coordinate with certification bodies, registries,and verifiers for sustainability schemes and green attributes.
- Support engagement with:
- Banks, lenders, and ESG due diligence teams
- Academic and research partners (e.g. NUS, NTU)
- Offtakers seeking verified green attributes (e.g.data centres, utilities)
- Assist in responding to sustainability-relatedtechnical and due diligence queries from external stakeholders.
6. Project & CommercialIntegration
- Provide sustainability inputs to:
- Feasibility studies
- Front-end project development
- CAPEX and option assessments
- Support preparation of investment decks, ESGnarratives, and sustainability sections for financing and partnershipdiscussions.
- Assist with:
- Grant applications
- Sustainability-linked loans or financinginstruments
- Carbon pricing, CPA considerations, and internalcarbon shadow pricing analysis
Qualifications & Experience
Mandatory
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering,Chemical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience insustainability, ESG, carbon accounting, or environmental analysis.
- Demonstrated capability in:
- GHG accounting (Scope 1 / 2 / 3)
- Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to handledata-driven sustainability assessments.
Desirable
- Experience with sustainability certificationschemes such as:
- I-REC
- VERRA or Gold Standard
- ISCC, FSC, or SBP
- Familiarity with ESG and disclosure frameworks:
- ISSB, TCFD, TNFD
- GRI, MAS, and SGX sustainability requirements
- Exposure to:
- Sustainability risk assessment and scenarioanalysis
- Data management and measurement & verification(M&V) systems
- Background in sustainability consulting or advisoryroles.
- Master’s degree in sustainability, environmentalengineering, energy systems, or related field.
Travel & Deployment
- Moderate regional travel expected.
- Exposure to project sites and stakeholders in Singapore,Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and other regional markets as required.
