Job summary

VDL ETG Singapore is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to lead supplier quality performance, ensure compliance with technical specifications, and support cross-functional teams across procurement, engineering, and manufacturing.

You will review FA reports, MRB dispositions, NCR/CAPA actions, and supplier change requests, drive 8D analysis, and participate in NPI meetings to meet customer and company requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering or a similar role in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of quality engineering principles and methodologies.
• Experience with quality tools such as FMEA, 8D, root cause analysis, and statistical process control.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve First Article (FA) Report for product qualification.
• Review MRB list to disposition non-conforming parts and follow up on supplier issues.
• Review and validate NCR/CAPA actions to identify root cause and prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing to resolve quality issues.
• Conduct part buy-off at supplier site to ensure compliance before delivery.
• Support NPI meetings to translate customer requirements to suppliers.
• Review and approve Supplier Change requests and Waiver Reports.
• Review and validate actions in the Supplier 8D Report to prevent recurrence.
• Conduct QMS/Technical/Process Audits to mitigate risk.
• Support QBR process to align suppliers with VDL requirements/targets.
• Review supplier quality status in weekly meetings and report to management.
• Present supplier performance updates at Customer Performance Forum.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs.

Job description

Purpose

The Supplier Quality Engineer is to lead in the management of supplier's quality performance and technical specification compliance to better meet company's business goal and requirements (Quality, Logistics, Technology, Cost, Service).

Key Area of Responsibilities

• Review and approve First Article (FA) Report for product qualification
• Review the Material Review Board (MRB) list to make a disposition on non-conforming parts and take follow-up action (for supplier-related issues)
• Review, approve and validate actions in the Supplier Non-Conformance Report (NCR)/Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) Report to ensure root cause is identified to actions done to eliminate issue and prevent re-occurrence
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, engineering, and manufacturing, to resolve quality-related issues
• Conduct part buy-off at the supplier site per customer/VDL requirements to ensure compliance before the part is delivered to VDL site
• Provide support on New Product Introduction (NPI) meetings (Supplier Quality-related) to understand customer requirements and translate them to related suppliers
• Review and approve Supplier Change requests through the Supplier Change Request and Waiver Report submitted by the supplier to manage Change Control (Copy Exact requirement)
• Review, approve and validate actions in the Supplier 8D Report to identify the root cause and eliminate the issue to prevent re-occurrence
• Conduct Quality Management System /Technical / Process Audit to qualify; periodic assessment to mitigate risk to Customer and VDL
• Provide support on Supplier Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process (Quality-related actions, indices and feedback) to ensure alignment between critical suppliers and VDL to meet VDL requirements/targets
• Review overall supplier Quality status during Weekly Supplier Quality Department meetings to control supplier Quality and mitigate concerns
• Present updates on Supplier performance to management and the customer focus team at the Customer Performance Forum
• Support and participate in company continuous improvement program

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering or a similar role in the manufacturing industry
• Strong knowledge of quality engineering principles and methodologies
• Experience with quality tools such as FMEA, 8D, root cause analysis, and statistical process control
