Job description

Lead Subsea Engineer

Responsible for delivery of all technical aspects throughout the project life cycle, from project initiation at invitation to tender stage, contract signature, project planning, execution, to project close out.

Required to attend and work at facilities and operational work sites (on and off shore) all around the world for periods of time as required throughout the project life cycle.

Job Description

Responsibilities

• Detailing the technical solutions handed over at contract award stage such that they are fully developed and able to be executed.
• Completion and coordination of all necessary project technical document deliverables required to allow project execution.
• Ensure project specific mobilisations are planned and completed in a safe, cost effective and timely matter.
• Support the project execution phase of the project at work sites as required to ensure that the plan is executed and any deviations from plan are controlled.
• Liaison with internal departments and 3rd party clients/subcontractors to build on-going relationships.
• Take a “Lead Engineer” level of control and accountability in terms of delivering projects / multiple discrete packages of work.

Tender support as required, including:

• Development of optimal technical solutions in response to client tender scopes. Presentation of technical solutions as required, satisfying the tender process and ensuring that competitive edge is highlighted at all stages to maximize awards.
• Apply strong commercial logic to the technical solutions developed to ensure that they are aligned with the client and company expectations and are fit for purpose.

Requirements

• A high level of technical competency in structural and subsea design and analysis to include understanding and implementation of:
• ABS Rules for Building and Classing Underwater Vehicles, Systems and Hyperbaric Facilities.
• Lloyd’s Register Rules and Regulations for the Construction & Classification of Submersibles & Diving Systems.
• Stability analysis of subseastructures (designed in accordance with DNV and DHI guidelines)
• Concrete mattresses, grouted fabric forms, pipelines, cables and umbilicals;
• Design of reinforced concrete - Pipeline support sleepers (According to Eurocode 2 and 4);
• Gravity Base Structure grouting;
• Subsea grouting and free span correction;
• Structural design of heavy lifting equipment for offshore use (According to AS4100 and DNV, Pt2, Ch5&6)
• Design of Offshore Equipment (Wire Slings, Soft Slings, Shackles etc..) to AS and DNV Standards
• Computer Aided Drafting (AutoCAD, Catia, Draftsight and Rhino 3D)
• 2D fabrication drawings
• 2D As Built
• Bidding/tendering proposals
• 3D solid modelling
• 3D rendering

Experience

• Minimum of ten years’ experience in design and fabrication at a senior engineer level, demonstrated experience in project execution including:
• Factory Acceptance and Site Integration Testing;
• Fabrication of installation aids and project specific installation equipment;
• Project Mobilisation/Demobilisation (inc. Transportation (Road/Sea));
• Marine Operations and DP
• Saturation, Air Diving and ROV operations;
• Survey and Positioning;
• Anchors, Chains, moorings and buoys;
• Spool installation;
• Pre-commissioning and commissioning
