The Student Care Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for students (typically primary school age) before and/or after school hours. The role includes supervising students, supporting their academic development, guiding their character development, and ensuring their well-being during care hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Safety
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students under your care.
Maintain classroom discipline and manage student behavior in a positive manner.
Oversee daily routines and transitions (meals, rest time, dismissal, etc.). - Academic Support
Supervise and guide students in completing their homework and school assignments.
Provide academic coaching in core subjects (e.g., English, Math, Science).
Identify students who require extra academic support and report to supervisors/parents when needed. - Character & Social Development
Conduct character-building activities and life skills lessons.
Model respectful and positive behavior to students.
Promote social interaction and conflict resolution skills among students. - Programme Delivery
Plan and conduct enrichment activities (arts & crafts, games, storytelling, etc.).
Assist in planning and executing holiday programmes and outings.
Monitor and report students’ participation and progress. - Administrative Duties
Take daily attendance and maintain accurate student records.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student behavior and progress.
Assist in general upkeep and cleanliness of the centre.
Requirements:
- Minimum GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent; Diploma in Education or Early Childhood preferred.
- Prior experience working with children (ages 7–12) in an educational or care setting is an advantage.
- Passionate about working with children and supporting their development.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Patient, caring, and responsible.
- Able to work weekday afternoons and during school holidays (full days).
