Qualifications

Overview

The Structural Engineer will provide specialized structural engineering support for Inspection, Maintenance, and Repair (IMR) operations on offshore platforms, subsea structures, and related facilities. This role involves conducting structural assessments, developing repair methodologies, and ensuring structural integrity throughout the asset lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Structural Assessment: Conduct structural integrity assessments and fitness-for-service evaluations for offshore platforms, jackets, topsides, and subsea structures.
  • Engineering Support: Develop engineering solutions for structural repairs, modifications, and reinforcements on existing offshore assets.
  • Analysis & Calculations: Perform static and dynamic structural analysis using software such as SACS, STAAD.Pro, ANSYS, and SESAM to evaluate structural performance under operational and environmental loads.
  • Inspection Planning: Develop structural inspection procedures, identify critical structural elements, and specify inspection techniques (visual, NDT, underwater inspection).
  • Repair Design: Design structural repairs including welded connections, clamps, grouted connections, and temporary reinforcements for damaged structural elements.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all structural work complies with relevant codes and standards including API RP 2A, AISC, DNV, ISO, and client specifications.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering reports, calculation packages, method statements, and technical drawings
  • Field Support: Provide on-site technical support during offshore campaigns, review as-built conditions, and validate repair effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Marine Engineering
  • Minimum 8-12 years structural engineering experience in offshore oil & gas preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore structural design principles, fatigue analysis, and corrosion assessment methods.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (SACS, STAAD, ANSYS, SESAM) and drafting tools (AutoCAD).
  • Experience with API RP 2A, AISC, DNV, and other relevant offshore structural codes.
  • Understanding of offshore environmental loads (wave, wind, current, seismic) and their structural implications.
