Staff Software Engineer – Full Stack

We are looking for a hands-on Staff Software Engineer to build and enhance high-performance visualization tools for large-scale, high-dimensional data. You'll work closely with scientists and engineers to turn complex data into intuitive, interactive experiences used by both development teams and field users.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable web and desktop visualization applications.
• Build new visualization features and maintain existing production software.
• Develop high-performance front-end and back-end systems and microservices.
• Diagnose performance, scalability and usability issues.
• Build automated integration, unit and test frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, user-focused solutions.
• Apply AI-assisted development tools and build AI-driven visualization interfaces.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience with Angular/React, TypeScript, WebGL, WebAssembly and CSS.
• Strong backend experience with Python and/or C#, microservices and APIs.
• Experience with Electron or similar desktop/web technologies.
• Experience handling large datasets and performance-sensitive applications.
• Proficiency with Git/SVN and software engineering best practices.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
• Strong communication, ownership and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

• Python visualization libraries and scientific/bioinformatics data experience.
• Experience with streaming or high-throughput datasets.
• Experience maintaining widely deployed or legacy software.
• Customer-facing or field application experience.

Education:

BS/MS in Computer Science, EE, Bioinformatics or related field.
