As a Staff Software Engineer (Generalist) in the Teamfight Tactics team, you will design, develop, and maintain systems that bridge backend services and client-facing experiences. You will play a key role in building scalable services and intuitive, performant user interfaces that reach millions of players worldwide. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team composed of engineers, designers, artists, and producers to ensure smooth and high-quality delivery of features across platforms.

Responsibilities:
  • Technical Design & Implementation: Lead and contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of fullstack systems, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and quality.
  • Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Partner closely with designers, artists, and producers to translate product goals into technical solutions that delight players.
  • Cross-Studio Collaboration: Work effectively with Rioters across time zones and studios to align on goals, share technical context, and deliver cohesive player experiences. Foster clear communication, proactive alignment, and mutual accountability across remote teams.
  • Frontend Development: Build and optimize UI systems and tools that improve player experiences and empower content creators.
  • Backend Development: Develop and maintain performant, reliable, and scalable backend services using technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Architecture & Quality: Contribute to technical discussions and architectural decisions to ensure code quality, long-term maintainability, and performance.
  • Mentorship & Engineering Culture: Provide technical mentorship to other engineers, promoting a culture of learning, best practices, and engineering excellence.
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience
  • Demonstrated experience delivering and maintaining fullstack systems
  • Strong proficiency in Java, C++, or C#, and experience with frontend frameworks
  • Experience architecting and building scalable backend systems, ideally using Java/Spring or equivalent technologies
  • Familiarity with modern UI design patterns (MVC, MVVM, MVP) and integration with backend APIs
  • Experience shipping large-scale applications and/or games across multiple platforms
  • Proven track record collaborating with cross-functional partners across disciplines
  • Product sense, pragmatism, and player empathy in making technical decisions
  • BS in Computer Science, or proven understanding of Computer Science fundamentals
Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Teamfight Tactics
  • Experience using Unreal Engine or other game engines
