Job summary

Kulicke and Soffa Industries, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Staff Engineer to lead sustaining activities, drive cost reductions, and manage lifecycle programs for reliability and supply continuity.

You will qualify materials, develop qualification plans, and collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Quality to ensure production readiness. The role requires a Mechanical/Mechatronics degree, 7+ years in mechanical engineering, and strong experience in GD&T, ECO/ECN, and PLM systems.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report project benefits and cost savings.
• Ensure qualified solutions are released and sustained in production.
• Support product quality via failure analysis and regional quality checks.
• Establish regional quality checks for nozzles shipped to customers.

Job description

The Mechanical Staff Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership in product sustainment, cost reduction, alternate source qualification, engineering change management, lifecycle management, and product quality improvement. The role works closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Sustaining Engineering, and Program Management to ensure product reliability, supply continuity, operational excellence, and business objectives are achieved.

Responsibilities:

• Drive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, material optimization, and alternate sourcing.
• Identify, evaluate, and qualify alternative materials, components, and suppliers to improve cost, quality, and supply continuity.
• Develop and execute qualification plans, including testing, validation, risk assessment, pilot builds, and First Article Inspection (FAI).
• Perform technical evaluations to ensure components meet fit, form, function, quality, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage End-of-Life (EOL) and obsolescence programs by identifying and implementing qualified replacements.
• Support engineering change implementation, including ECO/ECN execution and BOM maintenance.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sustaining Engineering, and Program Management teams to ensure successful project execution and production readiness.
• Monitor and report project benefits, including cost savings and business impact.
• Ensure qualified solutions are successfully released and sustained in production.
• Support product quality improvement through technical assessments, failure analysis, and regional quality checks for customer-shipped components.
• Establish and perform regional quality checks for nozzles shipped directly to customers.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics)
• Min 7 years of related experience in Mechanical engineering fundamentals and manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on GD&T, DFM/DFA, and material selection.
• Experienced in Product qualification, validation, and reliability testing.
• Familiar with ECO/ECN, BOM, and PLM management.
• Strong problem solving with experience in Root cause analysis, failure analysis, and risk assessment.
• Effective stakeholder management and communication.
• Cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills.
• Project leadership and execution.
• Results driven with a continuous improvement mindset.
