Job description
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform diagnostic sleep studies including comprehensive overnight polysomnographic testing (Level 1).
  • Assess patient’s history, medication, and procedure request prior to procedure. Explain procedure and orientate patient to the lab setting. Call patient as appointment reminder and to assess if their current condition is fit for procedure.
  • Remind patient through phone messages a few days prior to admission. Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to ensure proper functioning. Perform appropriate physiological calibration and troubleshooting. Respond promptly and appropriately to patient needs / changes in well‑being during the sleep study. Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events.
  • Have basic knowledge on sleep scoring and assist in performing therapeutic testing (Positive Airway Pressure) and mask fitting.
PORTABLE DIAGNOSTIC SLEEP STUDIES (Level 2)
  • Perform portable diagnostic sleep studies including comprehensive overnight polysomnographic testing (Level 2).
  • Assess patient’s history, medication, and procedure request prior to procedure. Explain procedure and orientate patient and staff in the ward. Call the referring doctor and verify the appropriate procedure.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to ensure proper functioning. Perform appropriate physiological calibration and troubleshooting. Respond promptly when the ward staff return to the ward. Visit the ward twice and check the patient status and machine. Document routine observations, including sleep stages and other clinical events. Have basic knowledge in assisting therapeutic testing (Positive Airway Pressure) and mask fitting when patient requires to use NIV machine.
HOME SLEEP TEST (Level 3)
  • Perform Home Sleep test (Level 3).
  • Prepare equipment and documents for patient’s signing. Orientate patient how to set up home sleep test device at home. Download acquired raw data after patient use.
  • Evaluate test reliability, patient’s performance, and clinical implications.
  • Manage and monitor patients' appointment for sleep study tests.
  • Assist in performing multiple sleep latency test.
  • Handle department performance indicator.
  • Have basic knowledge on sleep scoring and be able to assist in performing therapeutic testing (Positive Airway Pressure) and mask fitting.
SERVICE QUALITY
  • Maintain timely and accurate records of patients' information (procedures performed and results).
  • Comply with established guidelines of infection control practices.
  • Perform calibration and quality checks.
  • Maintain emergency trolleys, resuscitative and medical equipment.
  • Check and maintain equipment and inventories. Ensure safe environment for staff, patients and public.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the department.
  • Demonstrate TTSH Service with Excellence standards.
  • Monthly collation of department's data and procedures.
GENERAL
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills with the public and staff.
  • Provide guidance and support to new staff.
  • Exercise economy and care in the use of resources.
  • Monitor and requisite consumables and inventories.
  • Actively participate as a member for quality improvement projects at Hospital-wide /Departmental level.
  • Understand and follow hospital and departmental protocol for emergencies and disasters.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/ Head of Department.
