Job summary

National Healthcare Group is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our expanding team across NHG Health institutions, including Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Yishun Community Hospital, Woodlands Hospital and Institute of Mental Health.

You will assess and treat patients in a multidisciplinary setting with focus on tertiary and intermediate rehabilitation, developing treatment plans to restore independence and functioning.

Qualifications

• Recognised bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy.
• Registered or eligible for Allied Health Profession Certification (AHPC).
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Commitment to patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Assess, develop and implement treatment plans to improve independence in self-care, daily living and work activities.
• Perform functional, cognitive and perceptual assessments and training; facilitate rehabilitation and use of assistive devices.
• Educate families and caregivers on interventions and care-giving skills.
• Contribute to quality improvement and provide guidance to trainees and students.

The main role includes providing assessment and treatment of patients within a multi-disciplinary setting with focus on tertiary and intermediate rehabilitation settings.

Key Roles amp; Responsibilities

• Assess, develop and implement treatment plans to help individuals achieve optimal independence by improving and restoring skills in activities of self care, daily living, work activities, leisure and play.
• Provide functional, cognitive and perceptual assessment and training of daily activities, facilitate work rehabilitation, prescribe and train in the use of assistive technology or devices, and apply ergonomic principles to performance of occupations.
• Educate and provide training for family members and caregivers on interventions and care giving skills.
• Contribute towards continuous quality improvement in the department and provide guidance to trainees and students.
