Sr / Medical Laboratory Technologist - Molecular Pathology (FISH, NGS)

Overview

An opportunity for an experienced laboratory professional looking to contribute to the Molecular Pathology Laboratory (MPL) in the Department of Pathology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The MPL is a College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited clinical diagnostic laboratory providing molecular test services with precision and care to the hospitals under the National Healthcare Group Cluster of Singapore.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performing a wide range of molecular tests including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) and PCR assays, primarily in the area of cancer.
  • Analyze and interpret test results with accuracy and in compliance with laboratory policies.
  • Perform tissue sectioning using a microtome.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, quality control logs and transcribe molecular test results in the laboratory information system.
  • Perform laboratory quality assurance duties and participate in monthly laboratory inspections and CAP audits.
  • Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments according to laboratory protocols.
Job Requirements
  • BSc or MSc in Biomedical Sciences, Life Science, Molecular Genetics or equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant working experience in Molecular Pathology/ Molecular Biology / Histopathology Lab
  • Experience in performing & assisting in interpreting results from high complexity molecular diagnostic techniques including NGS, FISH and PCR assays.
  • Familiarity with clinical grade platforms such as MGI, Idylla, DAKO Omnis etc
  • Experience in quality related matters in molecular pathology following the CAP standards is desirable.
  • Must be scientifically vigorous, strong commitment to continuous learning, eager to learn and willing to work in a fast-paced, clinical environment
