Job description

Sr. Global Expansion Manager, AWS Entity Strategy & Planning

Job ID: 10535658 | Amazon Asia-Pacific Resources Private Limited (Singapore)

The AWS Global Expansion team is seeking a Sr. Global Expansion Manager. In this role you will plan and execute market entry strategy, problem solve for complex initiatives related to geographic expansion, and support with optimizing operational efficiency in existing countries. To do so, you will develop corporate entity strategy, driving technical and non-technical cross-functional stakeholders to ensure AWS can continue to operate efficiently and compliantly in new and existing countries. In addition to supporting AWS Infrastructure Services, you will also work across other AWS business lines, including sales, services, and supply chain in response to business needs and regulatory changes.

Our Global Expansion Managers have project management experience, strong judgment, technical aptitude for creating scalable processes, a disposition toward continuous learning, an interest in developing market entry strategies, a passion for navigating ambiguity, and the ability to deep dive across a wide range of topics and stakeholders.

Your role responsibilities
  • Lead and advise a set of cross-functional teams, including Tax, Legal, Accounting, Treasury, Finance, Operations, Product, Engineering, HR, Public Policy, among others, to drive the global expansion of AWS.
  • Execute multiple time-sensitive, large-scale projects to meet business objectives in defined project timeframes.
  • Identify, drive, and develop best practices, technical solutions, process efficiencies, and project workflows.
  • Own project management and problem solving for compliance and risk related issues.
  • Use quick judgement, have ability to influence without authority, apply commercial and technical aptitude to support with product scaling.
  • Communicate effectively to technical and non-technical leadership, and bridge the end to end story of expanding into a given country.
  • Collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders and leaders across multiple time zones, where there may be competing priorities.
  • Demonstrate and 'connect-the-dots' on how critical work streams are interrelated, for purposes of leadership escalations, reporting, and critical trade off decisions.
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS)

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we are the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we are looking for talented people who want to help.

You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You will collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you will experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Develop data-driven business cases to assess the viability of new product, service, and country expansions.
  2. Design appropriate corporate structure strategy, policy, and controls to enable AWS to scale efficiently and compliantly.
  3. Lead and advise a set of cross-functional teams to drive the global expansion of AWS, support with compliance, or facilitate divestiture. Build an execution strategy, and then drive cross-functional stakeholders to deliver.
  4. Execute multiple time-sensitive, large-scale projects to meet business objectives in defined project timeframes.
  5. Identify, drive, and develop best practices, technical solutions, process efficiencies, and project workflows.
  6. Engage third parties (advisors, regulators, customers) to influence the adoption of AWS.
  7. Write frequently and effectively. Operate autonomously. Enjoy navigating ambiguity.
