Job Description Summary

This role is responsible for the Surface Treatment processes (Peening, Grit Blasting and Coating) used in the repair of aircraft engine components and is required to ensure that Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) objectives are met. He/she shall work closely with the relevant functional teams to lead and take care of the daily operations, initiate continuous improvements and LEAN implementations, and collaborate on New Product/Process Introduction.

Role Overview

The Special Process Engineer (Surface Treatment) is responsible for ensuring that the Surface Treatment processes met the Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) objectives at GEAESS. This will include:

  • Conduct Risk Assessments and ensure that the processes are in compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations and Policies.
  • Ensure that all the processes comply with Quality requirements, conduct investigations, and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Generate work instructions and operating procedures for the processes.
  • Develop new repairs in collaboration with Product Engineers, NPI Engineers and Repair Development Engineers.
  • Work with Operations to improve machine utilization and labour efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Initiate continuous improvements and LEAN implementation
  • Work with Operations and Maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Prepare technical specifications for the purchase and upgrading of equipment.
  • Conduct machine buy-off, machine qualification and process substantiation.
  • Conduct training for technicians

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Mechanical / Aeronautical / Material or other relevant Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in the aerospace, Thermal Spray, Peening, Grit Blasting, Painting, Coating or other materials processing industry
  • Experience in an Aerospace Manufacturing/MRO environment would be an added advantage
