Overview
A Solution Architect plays a pivotal role in designing and implementing technology solutions that align with business objectives. This individual is responsible for translating business requirements into secure, scalable, and reliable technical architectures, ensuring that solutions are delivered efficiently and effectively. The Solution Architect collaborates closely with stakeholders, project managers, engineers, and developers throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Design: Analyse business requirements and develop comprehensive solution architectures that address current and future needs.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work with business leaders, IT teams, and external partners to gather requirements, present solutions, and ensure alignment across all parties.
- Technical Leadership: Guide development and engineering teams on best practices, architecture standards, and technology choices.
- Documentation: Produce detailed architectural documentation, including diagrams, models, and specifications.
- Project Delivery: Oversee the implementation of solutions, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure solutions adhere to company policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to inform architecture decisions and drive innovation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in solution architecture, systems integration, or a similar technical leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), enterprise applications, and integration patterns.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with architectural frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman is a plus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are advantageous.
