The Project Engineer is primarily responsible for onsite execution, supervision, and coordination of solar installation works. In addition to site responsibilities, the engineer must also manage essential project paperwork and documentation to support smooth project delivery.
1. Site Execution & Supervision (Primary Duty)
- Lead and supervise daily onsite solar installation, cable routing, inverter setup, and commissioning works.
- Coordinate with site workers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth progress.
- Conduct site inspections, verify workmanship quality, and ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Troubleshoot onsite technical issues and propose effective solutions.
- Ensure safe work practices, enforce safe work procedures, and support safety personnel during audits.
2. Site Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare daily site reports, progress updates, and work status for the Project Manager.
- Attend onsite meetings with clients, consultants, and authorities.
- Track materials delivered to site and coordinate with suppliers for pending items.
- Highlight any site risks, delays, or variations.
3. Documentation & Paperwork
- Prepare method statements, risk assessments, PTWs, and project documents when required.
- Update project documentation such as drawings, checklists, test reports, and QA/QC records.
- Submit site photos, progress logs, and required documents to internal teams and clients.
- Assist with preparation of handover documents, commissioning reports, and as-built drawings.
4. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure installation works meet company standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines (SCDF, EMA, SP).
- Conduct quality checks on mounting structures, wiring, insulation resistance, and system performance.
- Support internal ISO and safety compliance by maintaining relevant records.
Requirements
- Experience in solar or electrical site work is an advantage.
- Strong hands-on, site-based coordination skills.
- Able to read drawings and interpret technical specifications.
- Basic proficiency in documentation and report writing.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, PVSyst will be a plus.
