Job summary

RAPSYS TECHNOLOGIES PTE. LTD. is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to ensure software reliability, implement test automation, and improve overall quality across the SDLC. You will work within an agile, DevOps-driven environment to deliver fast feedback and robust testing strategies.

You will lead test design, automation, and execution across web, mobile, and API services, collaborating with product and development teams to maximize quality and reduce production issues.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with cross-browser, cross-platform, and responsive UI testing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Owners to define clear acceptance criteria.
• Work with engineers to ensure automated test coverage and prevent bugs in production.
• Analyze and decompose complex software systems to design risk-based test strategies.
• Develop and maintain test automation frameworks.
• Design, implement, and execute comprehensive test suites (functional, regression, exploratory, performance).
• Lead UAT and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure business requirements are met.
• Manage defect lifecycle, test artifacts, and repositories for tracking and reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement in agile testing practices, tools, and methodologies.

Job description

SOFTWARE QUALITY ENGINEER

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring software reliability, test automation, and continuous quality improvement across the software development lifecycle. The role requires strong analytical skills, test automation expertise, and collaboration with product and development teams to implement robust testing strategies. Engineers must work in an agile, DevOps-driven environment, ensuring fast feedback loops, risk-based testing, and high software quality.

• Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Analysts to define clear and actionable user story acceptance criteria.
• Work with Software Engineers to ensure automated test coverage and prevent bugs and defects in production.
• Analyze and decompose complex software systems to design holistic,risk based test strategies.
• Develop and maintain test automation frameworks usingindustry-standard tools.
• Design, implement, and execute comprehensive test suites coveringfunctional, regression, exploratory, and performance testing
• Take arisk-based approach to test automation, prioritizing critical functionality formaximum impact.
• Performtime-boxed exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and usability issues.
• Maintain a stable regression test suite integrated into QA nightlybuilds.
• Continuously refine smoke tests in the Development CI environmentfor early issue detection.
• Lead system integration testing with other system owners tovalidate cross system interactions.
• Oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT), coordinating withstakeholders to ensure business requirements are met.
• Managethe defect lifecycle, test artifacts, and test repositories to ensure cleartracking and reporting.
• Drivecontinuous improvement in agile testing practices, tools, and methodologies.
• Take ona secondary role as an Application Performance Engineer or Application SecurityEngineer to expand testing coverage beyond functional aspects.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS NEEDED

Core Testing Expertise:

• Strong knowledge of test automation strategies and risk-based testing.
• Experience designing and executing test cases, test plans, and test suites.
• Hands-on experience with manual and automated testing for web, mobile, and API services.
• Familiarity with cross-browser, cross-platform, and responsive UI testing.

Test Automation & CI/CD Integration:

• Experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Robot Framework, Cypress, SikuliX, or Egg Plant.
• Knowledge of test scripting and automation programming using Python, Java, JavaScript, or C#.
• Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Bamboo).
• Ability to design maintainable, scalable, and reusable test automation suites.

Agile & DevOps Testing Practices:

• Strong understanding of agile testing methodologies, including TDD,BDD, and exploratory testing.
• Experience working in agile development environments (Scrum,Kanban, XP).
• Familiarity with shift-left testing approaches, ensuring early defectdetection.

Experience with containerized testing in Docker/Kubernetes environments.

Security & Performance Testing (Added Advantage):

• Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, k6,Locust).
• Knowledge of application security testing (OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, SAST, DAST).
• Experience conducting API security testing using authenticationprotocols (OAuth, JWT).

Test Management & Certifications:

• Experience managing defect tracking and test repositories usingtools such as JIRA, TestRail, Micro Focus ALM (QC/Sprinter).
• Certified Software Testing Professional (CSTP) and/or Certified SoftwareQuality Analyst (CSQA) is an advantage.
• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer or ElectronicsEngineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
